I recently installed Random Tech Hi-Flow cats, on an already existing Borla 3' exhaust. Sills are still too hot... Going catless is not an option, as I learned the hard way $$. TOO loud for my taste..

I am going to put the Roe Racing Insulation on, and Im sure it will help. But I'm concerned about damaging the exhaust system rapidly. Due to all that heat being trapped. Is there anyone out there who has used this stuff over a long period (1yr. or more), then taken the sills off to inspect? What are the opinions of wrapping the cat. with this stuff?? Thanks in advance.

Don't wrap the cat, they will melt inside

Im curious, did this happen to you? There are many people that really think this stuff works well. And I think it would help my situation. But I dont need the exhaust corroding and/or melted cats.

I wrapped the Cats and muffler. No meltdown here. I'm running Seans High flo cats and Randomtechs 3"exhuast system. I think it runs cool enough. My White side sills are still White!

I threw away my factory side sill insulation and use this barrier stuff

I got it from a Earls here on Gasoline Alley. It has an aluminum side and it has a self adhesive side. Works great! :2tu:

Have you taken the sills off after a few months of use? I'd be curious if the aluminum barrier adhesive was still OK? If used the same from Earls and found it delaminated after expersure to high heat. Perhaps the wrap protects it.

Not Yet but I will. I make an effort every time I can to look closely at my side sills. I had some corrosion and had to repair/repaint my sills. I vowed not to reuse the stock insulation and to find an alternative solution. Thus the reason I went with this set up. My sills were painted once before due to discoloration (heat) from the stock cats that run hot!

I (just like Viperrt69) wraped the whole thing and no issues at all and after about 1000 miles I did have the sills off to have my headers installed and no problems at all, I love this product it saves me and everyones legs lol
