I sold my vette, and now need to make the phone call to Bill to have a car deliverd. I am a little aprehensive about the color I have chosen. I decided on saphire a long time ago but now that it is time to get it, I am thinking about switching to yellow.

Anyone have similar problems and how did you decide. I love the blue, the color is subdued, it is a one year color, but the washing duties(swirl marks) scare me not to mention rock chips. Yellow on the other hand, is LOUD, will hide chips well, it shows all tar, and it is not a one year color.

I guess what color does not really matter, it is a viper after all. Someone help me decide......

Thanks

Robert

That blue is gorgeous, but let me tell ya.. I had a Black Viper and it was AWESOME! But........ those swirl marks, no matter how much you worked at them, is enough to make you puke...

I have the Sapphire and I am partial to bright colors. I went from bright blue to red to the Sapphire. It is like having a black car. I have a yellow z06 and I like both colors, it kind of depends on what you like. The Yellow is very noticable and the Blue is somewhat stealthier. If you want the blue but want it to be noticed, simply get one with stripes and put headers and a cat back exhaust system on it!
You basically cant go wrong with which ever one you choose.
Good luck and ejoy your new Viper

Not that I own a Blue color, but I totally agreed with Neon Snake. The yellow is more suitable for those young people...oh well...or those young at heart people. I had the same question like you before I got mine. After I decided on the sapphire blue, I can tell you that this color is so awesome...don't know whether it's true or not, but the sapphire blue do make the car looks more expensive. Well, afterall, it's kind of a personal preference kind of thing. Good Luck!

I always loved the 96-97 blue w/stripes almost purchased a 2000
steel grey. but i have no regrets in going with the yellow!!!
just love it..

the best way to decide is see the cars in person if possible...
the brochures just dont do the colors justice.
in the brochure i hated the steel grey in person it is one of the nicest looking colors i have ever seen...
same goes for the yellow car looks totally different in person.

best wishes
and good luck

Don't forget Buhler Dodge (Red Bank, NJ) as well. Darren Buhler is a VCA member, Viper owner, and a heluva nice guy (...as well as Bill P!)

I feel your pain (HA!) Just went through exactly the same choice dilemma. I thought the blue looked good, but just a shade too dark. With any dirt or dust on it at all you do a double take - "Hey, what color is that? Is it black, or what?". On the other hand I was worried about the yellow being too pale and pansy-ish ... kinda like the gen1 yellow. However, with the black stripes SOME of the pictures (different tint in each one) looked really awesome ... just screamed "TRACK CAR!!".

I whined to Bill P about my awful problem

and he assured me that in the flesh, the yellow looked great ... not Corky Romano in a viper. So I took a chance and ordered the yellow w/black stripes. I was pretty antsy waiting for it to arrive, but when the tailgate on the trailer dropped and I saw it for the first time ... YEEE-HAWWWWW!! That is one bad boy! Love it!

If you choose yellow, definitely get the stripes too. The combo is killer.

Forget both of 'em, go red!

Darker, more aggressive than yellow, easier to keep clean than Blue.

Of course, if I didn't have to clean it myself, the Blue w/Silver ACR would be my drug of choice.

But, as it stands, red RT10 is my green light choice.

It really comes down to personal choice and if you like LOUD then sapphire blue is probably not for you. The car stands out in any color (primer for that matter) and makes a real statement. Throw yellow (or red for that matter) into the mix....and the car is an outright ticket trap. As my daily driver I like the blue, and sure it's a little tougher to maintain on "wash days" but it's worth it. One of the funny things about the darker colors is people sometimes don't recognize the car right away. With yellow or red they know they've got a VIPER comin' up on 'em FAST. This color...it's like it takes em a sec...then they're like Holy S***....that was a VIPER!

I saw a 2001 RT/10 Yellow and 2001 RT/10 Blue next to eachother at Naperville, IL Dodge.

I knew that I wanted the Yellow for sure from that day on. Both are great, but DEFINATELY see them together to make your choice.

Otherwise you will always question your decision.

What about the other choice - GTS or RT/10?

My advice on color, get both! I'll help you out on driving duties ;) I think everyone above has summed it up:
Yellow: bright, here-I-am, give-me-a-ticket color
Blue: subdued, near-black thus **** swirlmarks

Depends on your preference. Seems from the color of your vette, that you'd go with the blue, but change can be nice too.

I love the Cognac Connolly leather interior in my 2001 Saphire Blue RT/10!! I saw this vehicle on the lot parked next to a yellow GTS with black stripes and black interior. Two completely different looks. Mine was an easy choice.

Just ordered my new license plate: 8ACORVT
