Initial entries (as of 02Dec10) in the Sebring double National (January 7-9, 2011) in STO:

4 Henry Gilbert Black 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Sports Car Driving Experience/Hooked on Driving/Kumho
40 David Pintaric Red 2006 Dodge Viper Kryderacing/Hoosier/Carbotech/WRP Investments
45 George Corso Red 2003 Nissan 350Z murrayauto.com, HD Radio, Humane Society of Broward County
47 Bruce Grout Blue 1999 Chevrolet Corvette Nationwide, JL, HOD,Old Port Cove
84 William Haney White 2009 Ferrari 430 Challenge Competizione & Sports Cars
92 Stan Wilson Red/Black 2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10 NetEvidence -Lux Performance
93 Rodney Williamson Red 1994 Ford Mustang Titanium Motorsports

I have been asked to carry a DL1 in my car for this event (and I have agreed) and to ask others to volunteer as well. The CRB is trying diligently to equal the field in STO (although I would say our Run Offs performance was pretty equal).

Good luck. Hard to believe the new season is upon us already. Man, you would think Sebring would get a lot more entries. The economy must be kicking the crap out of the racing world. Any new mods to the car over the 'winter?'

The entry list will grow, this was when the window first opened up. I expect a pretty good field (12-15) of STO cars. Jerry Onks' Z06, Koenig's BMW, plus another Ferrari or two, and maybe a Gen 4 ACRx...maybe.

Correct, Kuno ran a 2:08.7 (I just happened to be at PRI and saw the times listed on an ACRX for sale). The Dodge Viper Cup's first event this year is at Sebring so it will be interesting to see how times compare.

My car isn't an ACRx. I make 530 at the rear wheels and run Hoosier DOT A compound tire versus 560ish and race slicks.

Plus, he's a pro...:D
I know David, I was referring to 3SRT, who has ACRX #7 according to his sig. They said the Michelin radials were worth 3 sec. at Sebring. You aren't that far off-- maybe. Do you have to run DOT tires in your class? Can't you run the Michelin? We can run them in NASA, but I don't due to the price and they don't participate in our contingencies program.

Yes, DOT tires are required in SCCA's STO class.

As I reflect back on things, maybe my laps times will be better this year than what I wrote initially. Last year I ran with a T1 setup and the motor only made 465 RWHP. This January I will be going with 65 more HP, an aero package (ACRx-like), better suspension, and better gearing. Plus I know the track better this time out.

Who knows? Maybe I am being too conservative. But we will see.

Wow , looks like a killer race already. We know you are quick, but so is Stan Wilson and Scott Tucker. Believe Onks has done some quick times over the years too. Should be a ton of fun and definitely keep us posted --- qualifying, results ,etc.

Good luck to all you Snakecharmers!:2tu:

Pretty cool Galerne is bringing his ACR-X out too!!

I have an edge...(yeah, right)...extra seat time. I am bought a Spec Miata to get extra seat time.

So, on one hand you have Scott Tucker getting lots and lots of seat time in his LMP2, and on the other you have David Pintaric getting lots and lots of seat time in his SM. :lmao:

Heh, don't knock it, Verges , Stan Wilson, & myself, we have all done plenty of Spec Miata ---- I think you have the edge , since the straight line speed gives you plenty of time to relax , write down notes for the turns, shift points ,etc. Scott will be too busy soiling his undies to take notes , hence you are way ahead on strategy!

All joking aside, I actually think getting a SM is a very good idea. The additional seat alone time each weekend will help me hone my skills; add to that racing against 40+ other almost-exact cars will really push me to get better. I am truly expecting to get my butt kicked out there. But that's OK; it's all done to improve my abilities.

Another part of the equation is that I am renting a seat in a Continental Challenge RX8 ST car, so more seat time is enroute.

2011 is my year to improve.

Looks like the first rac of 2011 is going to be a Viper-Ferrari-Vette-BMW shoot out. 3 Vipers (1 Gen 4 & 2 Gen 3), 4 430 Challenge Ferraris, 3 Corvettes, and 2 wild BMW M3s (one I know that is very fast, the other I don't know anything about). This should be fun, and what a cool grouping of cars.

In our region (NorPac), you can run a Comp Coupe in STO (with inlet restrictors)- is that true out that way? We can also run GT-1 on slicks and without the restrictor.

This is SCCA National, so if it can be done in California, it can be done in Florida. Although I believe the Comp Coupes need to run in WCGT trim (but I may be wrong on this).

Sorry for the delay in providing a report, but last weekend was a tough one for me.

Saturday's race I qualified 2nd in STO, took the lead going into the first turn. I ended up DNFing because of a broken transmission. Lucky I didn't sell both of my spares, as I used the second one on Sunday.

Here are in-car videos from Saturday's race:

You were looking great out there too bad about the transmission. How did you fare on Sunday?

Tried a pass for second at the end of lap one, but had to go wide entering Turn 17. Picked up some rubber that got on the exhaust and started a small fire (kinda like being a "little pregnant!), so I baled on the day. 2 laps at speed, one during a Full Course Yellow...live to fight another day.

I qualified at a 2:14.3, fourth best in class. There's work to be done on the suspension, jsut cannot get the rear to work right at this time.
