Here is the secret coolant plug removal tool! It's about a 2" long piece of 5/16" square stock. Find one in hardened steel if you can even if you have to buy a long one and cut it to length. I bought mine at a local old school hardware store and they had them in the pull out boxes with all the bolts and stuff. They had many different small lengths so I bought 3 for $1 each.
Insert in deep socket! I can't recall the size but it was a std size. Do not just put in shallow socket as my first one twisted in a shallow socket the darn coolant plug was so hard to get out. Hardened steel wouldn't have done that. If you don't have a deep socket, buy one for a few bucks, spray it a color so you'll always have it for this. I used this, an adapter to 1/2" size, a 10" long 1/2" extension to the rachet. This gave me perfect leverage to safely get out the plug without twisting.
