I normally drive with my hands on the wheel & have never really noticed how much movement there is in the shifter when not shifting. I was lazy with my hand the other day & noticed that at about 2K rpm's, if I floor it the shifter pulls toward the passenger side about 3/4 to 1 inch whether in 2nd or 3rd gear.

Is this amount of shifter movement normal? I know this is my 2nd viper, but I've just never really noticed this before, doh, so just checking that this is a normal amount of movement. Thnx.

Watch the video of the ACR at the ring and you will see shifter movement. I was surprised to see how much the shifter moved on the track. That tells me the car definitely needs a stiffer tranny and engine mount for the track.

Poly mounts should solve this problem. If you are in a gear, say third, and the rpm's get up high and the shift knob starts to come back in the direction of nuetral, you could be looking a syncro or bearing problem in the transmission itself. Side to side should be okay. Its just the driveline shifting around. Best to keep that in a straight line as well, which poly mounts will do for ya.

Give Mark Jorgensen a call at Woodhouse, as we have the Woodhouse Performance engine mounts and tranny mounts and this will alleviate alot of your concerns.

His number is 1-800-889-1893

I got Woodhouse Poly Engine Mounts installed earlier this year - Great Mod!!!

The shifter doesn't move anywhere near as much as stock.

**I've also got a NEW Woodhouse Trans Mount which I'm not using. Still in the box.
Actually, it's a Mopar Part - #1-P4510179. I believe it's from the Comp Coupe.

If you're interested, e-mail me at [email protected] .

If you drag your car or just get on it a bunch on rough roads and occasionally get some wheel hop, you may have broken a motor mount or two. I did and didn't realize it.

Most of us seem to like the Woodhouse motor mounts. They do transmit a bit more vibration but you can now feel the engine, trans and car better; and the gear shifter movement is much less.

Good mod.

Maybe I've gotten used to it but the vibrations seem to be gone now. When I first installed the woodhouse mounts, my rearview mirror kept vibrating and dropping down. :D That doesn't happen anymore. Great mod.

How much labor cost should I be looking at to do the mounts?

After viewing the 'ring' video I think my stick movement is normal (that sounded funny), nothing as dramatic as that, a little Mr. Miaggi side to side action. Mounts sound cool if not too pricey to do.

Dodge Dealer charged me a bit over $400 to install mine, but it was their first time doing them,,, so they said.

I think I got the shaft (or at least some of the shaft), but I'm glad I've got them now.:)

Thanks guys. I don't think I have a problem, but I'm going to check with my dealer service guy this weekend, they've been good to me on my vipers so I'll see what they quote, sounds like a good mod.
