Skip Shift Eliminators \"Generic\"

I have a skip shift eliminator that is for a 93-02 Firebird/Camaro. The connections look the same so my question is are these all the same?

Also I see two spots on the tranny it could go on, one toward the front, one towards the rear, which one is it?

Re: Skip Shift Eliminators

They are the same.

I got mine from Summit for $25 a few years ago.

It is the one towards the front. The other is the reverse lockout. Or is it the rear. Either way, it just plugs in... if you can't put the car in gear, you got the wrong one. I am 90% sure it is the one towards the front.

Good luck!

Skip shift solenoid is further forward, pointing to driver, above fill plug. Reverse solenoid is next to shifter, pointing to rear, near output shaft.

Have Summit part, works fine.

Summit JET-61610 $29.69

Eliminates the solenoid function, but the arrow in the dash will still light.

Unplugging works, too, but sets a Diagnositic Trouble Code (DTC). Some state inspections (like here in NY) plug into your OBD-II port and fail you if there are any DTCs.

So if you want to save gas just follow the arrow indicator. That's the way it should have been in the first place.

You don't need to spend $30, just jumper the plug contacts with ten-cent Radio Shack resistor. (1/2 watt 2.2K ohm)
