I'm here in California and looking for smog legal headers. I was told that in the early 2000's Edelbrock made the only smog legal headers available for Vipers and later discontinued them. They weren't very good from what I was also told, but my only option if I want headers. So does anyone have an old set you would be willing to sell?

I had Borla's and went to Edelbrock's. IMO the Edelbrock's are a better header but maybe that's because I'm not a fan of stainless headers. Having a V10 the sound is already something one has to get used to. Add stainless headers and they seem to add a higher pitch to the sound. Where I live we don't have emissions so cats are an option. You can guess what I don’t have and Edelbrock's are not stainless. I could hear a considerable difference between the two when I switched and nothing else was changed at the time. Anyway Sorry got off topic but I just recently upgraded to M&M and I have my old set I could sell. They are in great shape and will include the O2 sensor extensions. The sweeps have never had anything welded to them either so pretty much ready to bolt in. PM inbound

I had a set of Edelbrock headers on my 94. I liked them and they definitely performed, but they are certainly a PIA to install. I had to shim the motor mounts to get the headers centered in the side sills so they wouldn't rattle and the installation is a two person job to get the bolts in. They are loud.

Did you have cats with the headers? Just asking because you mentioned they were loud. Did you like the sound? I currently have high flow cats and a B&B catback.

The '94 was catless with a 3" borla exhaust. I drove it before and after the headers were installed with the same exhaust setup. The headers definitely made it louder. Maybe with your exhaust it wouldn't be as bad. I enjoyed it when I had it, but I didn't put side pipes on the 01 to relive the experience. It was a little much for daily driving. My car picked up .3 sec in the quarter after the install which is a pretty good indication that they did work.

If you manage to find a used set of the Edelbrocks, make sure there is enough meat left on the mid-flanges so that you can machine them flat because they warp and will not hold gasket. I sold my set to someone who needed the CARB certification and went with Belangers.
