I was watching the California wild fires coverage on satellite last night for about 3 hours. I know there are many Viper owners in the area and just wanted them to know the Viper community is pulling for them to keep their families, homes, and Vipers safe from those devastating fires. They showed a burned out home in the mountains with an early model vette in the garage that was completely torched. What a waste! Kudos to all the firefighters who are risking their lives to save the property of strangers! Good luck to all!! Anybody on the board in that area? Give us a shout.

Things are kind of scary here in San Diego. While mostly the scrub brush open areas are burning, the fire is picking off houses along it's periphery. Outlying town are in jeopardy. Smoke is heavy throughout the city. Some flights are being redirected due to visability.
That said, Vipers are very mobile, and quick on their feet. I have my trunk filled with some personal possessions, and am ready for a quick get away if the winds shift into my direction.
Several of my friends, and employees's relations have lost homes. It is really bad, but the firefighters and homeowners are making a valiant effort against the inferno.
Fires also burning wildly in SanBernardino mountains, and Northeast of LA.
Thank you for your concerns.

One of my buddies with a '94 Green RT was litterally surrounded by the fire- by the grace of God the circle did not close in and his house was saved :2tu: Many others have not been as lucky :(

It's bad enough to deal with large wildland fires that spread to developed areas and are caused by natures own thinning out by fire (lightning), but when a fire of this magnitude especially, is a SET fire....... well I just hope they get the SOB(s) that started it. Maybe the next time they try it they will meet the great red devil face to face!

It's REAL BAD here.....my Mom has a house in Lake Arrowhead, and we think it has been lost to the fire, although we cant go up the hill and check......The worst part is, they were out of town before the fire started and left thier cat in the house, and cant get up there to save him...
I called the humane society and they are going to try and get him out...He's a pretty cool cat, so we are hoping for the best....
Wish us luck,
Scott

That would have to be the best and the worst feeling all in one. You're glad your house and Viper are safe , but your neighbor might lose everything.

Good luck Scott. The Lake Arrowhead region didn't look good, but you never know. We'll hope for the best for your mom and the cat. I'll have my cat say a prayer tonight. :smirk:

Best of luck Paul. If you're talking about your Viper trunk....I'm sure you had to pick and choose very carefully. Keep us updated. We all are concerned for our fellow Viper owners!!!

Same here. I can park about 12 cars in my driveway if need be. I'm in the San Marcos area, just west of the 15 Fwy.

Believe it or not, the smoke has reached Tucson, AZ today. We can't even see the 9,000' mountain peaks from a mile away. People are having a hard time breathing and there is a fine layer of soot on your car if left outside for 30 minutes. We're probably 350 miles away from the nearest fire in So. Cal. I can't imagine how terrible it must be in San Diego.

Your are right about the small SRT trunk. I have my most valuables tucked away in there ready for a quick get away. My title and registration, my original shift knob, my viperclub.org pass word, my garage opener, the original ash tray, Dan Cragins and Dave Jenkins secret phone #'s, my VCA membership card, The SocalViper secret codes, my old "President" business cards, applications for Viperdays, SilverState Classic, open track days schedule at Buttonwillow and Willowsprings, SVSi's address, the extended warranty for the Viper, 11 quarts of Mobil 1 with oil filter, a K&N cleaning kit, clean shop rag, california duster, and past issues of ViperMagazine. The trunk now barely closes. I found a little room behind the seats to stuff some other things, What have I forgot?
