I started getting calls last week from people asking why I was selling my GTS. I'm not! Several said they had seen it down at the local Chevrolet dealer. Nope. Curiosity was killing me, so I drove my Snake down there this afternoon to see what the fuss was about. Sure enough, a black GTS with silver stripes!
Anyway, it turns out it is a 1999 GTS and appears pretty much stock. Stock shift knob, rear exhaust assembly, etc. Didn't ask to open the hood and check the tubes and filters, but would guess they are also stock. The car has 20,000 miles on it and appears to be in very good condition. Factory warranty intact according to the dealership. Here is the kicker: The price on the window was a fairly steep $68,995. I spoke with a sales guy and the General Manager (who owns a rockin' 2000 ACR with the Archer upgrades), and they said it was being marked down to $54,000. Not too bad! I know that there were only 81 black/silver GTS's made in 2000, so I would think it is a relatively rare color combination in '99 as well.
If anybody is interested, it was at Superior Chevrolet in Merriam. I spoke with Wardell Isom and he gave me his cell phone number: (816) 289-8767. Somebody should buy this one quick for two reasons:
1. The price seems reasonable for the last of the "lumpy cam" GTS's, especially in that nifty black and silver color.
2. People will then quit calling me and asking why I am selling my car!
Have fun...
