I am having Bellanger headers put on my 2001 GTS, my Viper tech recommends i do not put the heat shields back on. I purchased some of Ab's high temp plug wires and am worried about the plug boots melting. I have looked at DEI plug boot protectors and am wondering if they work, and what size to get. Apprecieate any help.

I have run open Bellangers for over 5 years and almost 60,000 miles with no additional spark plug wire protection at all. No problems. I changed OEM wires every 30,000 miles. Just put a set of Ab's wires on the Bumblebee---ready for next year. I really only bought them for the color. Still running stock wires on the RT/10 with a new set ready to go on this winter.

I just run the sock booties with mine that you can get from places like Summit and no problems in 25K miles, 5K of those with the SC. These particular ones are made by Taylor, but I think any of them will work the same.

I have the same as Ken.....but in FASTER red! :)
Tony, as proof that Yellow is faster, here is a pick of my red boots when I had a slow a$$ car. Can you deny that the Yellow version is faster?

I have those heat shields on another car and have totally cooked the plug boots inside them with no visable outside damage to the shields.

I can see where the boots could actually add a little heat to the equation. I say go without. 60,000 miles and over 5 years with no trouble is more than most here will ever put on their Viper.
