The latest issue of sports car , The SCCA magazine picked Bobby Archer as favorite to win the run offs in T1, with Porsche dealer Fast Freddy Baker ( 6 time national champ) as the #2 pick also driving a viper. I guess he saw the light!

Where can I follow T1?

There doesn't seem to be much coverage in the media.

Let's just hope it doesn't rain like it did last year. It was really tough sitting in the stands with the Vette guys and watching all the Vipers slip and slide on the track. My comments of "If it was dry out...." were falling on deaf ears.

Vic:

Watch the Viper Racing page on this Forum as we post typically race results for Archer et al. following each T1 race.

Also, www.sccaforums.com has a page for T1 that often has race results plus very interesting conversion between drivers and fans.

Of course, you can also check out www.viperspeed.com !

p.s. How did you like the picture of Bobby Archer's "tire testing" on p.42 of SCCA's SportsCar magazine?

Well, sort of. Didn't the Vettes whine and cry until they made the Vipers use restrictor plates?

No, really? Is zat true? That absolutely *****! First they whine at ALMS, until they put a big block in a tube frame, and that's not a Vette at all!

Then they whine in T1, and demand the Vipers be handicapped with restrictor plates?

Why don't they ban Vipers from competition altogether, then they will feel safe.

Makes me wanna vomit, those non-hacking wusses!

That's the only reason I didn't buy another Vette. The Viper had come out, and I didn't wanna drive an "almost" sports car, not with something available that I really wanted more, the GTS. Even after putting 100 HP gain on my 89 Vette, it still wasn't "all that". Been there, done that, and so this time around I got a big boys' bad *** toy!

Makes you feel sorry for those poor Vette owners, always playing catch up.

Restrictor plates! Huh!

Don't forget SportsCar's pick for a strong podium finish for Deb Loth - I have this thing for fast women!!! Deb is a very accomplished driver and finished a superb 5th out of 23 cars at the Viper Racing League race at Mid-Ohio in May. She was in a GT2 Viper ( T1 cars are classified as GT2 Snakes in Viper Days ) and most of the drivers were in GT1 cars.

Go Restrictor Racers !!!

Actually this is the best answer in the world for skeptical Vette drivers. Ask them why , if the ZO-6 is faster, they require a restrictor plate on Vipers ( in SCCA ) to allow the competition to keep up?

Just a few notes on the comments above:

Cleveland P-car dealer Fred Baker drove a Viper at the Runoffs last year, but is not entered this year because his 911 just wasn't fast enough to keep up with the Vipers and Vettes.

Yes, we are running with 55mm restrictor plates - not desirable, but we're learning to live with it.

We WILL have decent rain tires this year!!!
