Steering Issue

My 2006 had free-play in the steering. There was lost motion; 2 or 3 degrees of play, in the intermediate shaft before the steering rack input started to act. I ordered a new shaft from JonB and it also had 2 or 3 degrees of play. It seems that all of the OEM shafts do. So, I had the good folks at Full Auto in Ann Arbor fabricate a custom shaft and the play is gone (Thank you to Mike at Full Auto and Jeff at Turnone).

I cannot understand why somebody, anybody, has not found /desired/required this steering modification/upgrade.

My 06 gets a lot of steering use..........

Never noticed any looseness or slop.

Tech inspector guys actually check for this at the track.

............My problem is how many sets of tires I go through each season.

I've never noticed it in either my Gen 3 or my Gen 4--but maybe that's because I'm old and don't notice a lot of things anymore--Dave
