i just got a call from what looks like a foreign number....+56 52629716. They asked to speak to Steve. I said this is he. They asked if i owned a Dodge Viper. i said yes. She said she was "calling because the warranty had expired, and was calling to renew it". i said no thanks, and hung up, while she was still talking.
anyone else ever get a call like this? What do you think they were really after?

I got one mailed to me once. It looked to be official paperwork, almost like a recall notice. They are very creative, these companies. Warranties have huge profit margins

They must be pulling our info. from the dealerships, of Chryslers warranty database..

Quite simply they were looking for your credit card number. Likely got your information off of registration rolls that can be purchased.

You did what was right ---- hang up and don't give out any info.

Scam attempt. No one from Chrysler (assuming you had a Chrysler factory warranty) would ever call you for a renewal.

+56 is Chile, not Italy :lmao:
Those damn Chileans! It's not enough that they've got all the best sea bass??!!

Scam for sure. It helps to buy a phone that will allow you to block telephone numbers. I also set mine up not to accept calls with blocked numbers. It's help eliminate about 90% of the scam/telemarketing calls.

Hmmm...I get those "your warranty is about to expire..." calls. I always press 1 to speak to someone. Then they say, "year, make, and model." I say, "you just told me the warranty was about to expire. You tell me which car it is." They usually get ********** and hang up.

The best way to deal with those debt consolidators is to again, speak to someone. I told them I have $1.5 million in debt. He said, "Wow, that's a lot of debt. May I ask how you acquired such a debt?" I reply, "hitmen." He says, "what?" I say, "Hitmen. I hire hitmen to kill telemarketers."

I constantly get these warranty sales calls. Get them in the mail also. Are you saying they are more scamming then just trying to sell a uesless warranty?

I get those calls too here in Canada but the number registers to California! They told me my warranty was about to expire on my truck (1989 W250 Ram) and I asked them if they they would cover my warranty. I said I was very happy about that as it expired about 17 years ago and I was having lots of problems and as they wanted to pay for it.....:rolaugh:

They didnt laugh.

Yes, got those calls a couple of times. They must have some idiots that fall for it.

Kind of different, but funny.

I got a letter from a local dealer that wanted me to trade in my viper for a camry. lol. Obviously a form letter and the computer just stuck the name of your registered car into the letter. Something like "We have a huge demand for used Dodge Vipers right now so bring your 2005 viper in for a great deal on a New Toyota Camry." HAHAHAHAHAHA
