Well, a year and a half in the making, Street Serpent #3 finally hit the streets today. All I can say is GREAT things come to those that wait - it looks absolutely AWESOME in it's new House of Kolors Kandy Apple Red over Jeff Lemke's body kit.

Why finally today? Well, I must be Nucking Futs, but I put the screws to my body shop guy so that my son could take it to High School Prom. I made a promise to him and I was determined to keep it. Just like the TV shows, they were working on it until the final minute. I've put on 10 miles, and my son will probably put on 100. So am I a little nervous, YEP - and he's a great kid, so I'm sure all will be fine. So rather than worry, I had to start this post. Here's a few pics for starters:

John that car looks awesome. I am glad to see it completed. great choice in colors. I love this pic... I just wish I could find the pic of you doing burnouts with just the car with nothing but motor frame and seats...

Congrats and good luck. I hope your son realizes he has the nicest dad in the world - not to mention the most trusting!

I hope you enjoy the car. Put some miles on that thing...

All I can say is that your car is stunning. Perfect color. A year and a half is way too long, but the end result is definitely worth the wait.

How much did the body shop charge for the paint job and kit install?

WOW...paint does look a lot more attractive than that bare fiberglass. Finally, congrats! Beautiful color on a beautiful car. BTW, good looking boys. Now...lets see a picture of their old man :D

The front splitter takes a bit of training for driving on the streets. Without the proper knowledge on how to drive with that, it may be the first thing to go so use caution.

He's going to get ALOT of attention at prom. Do you thing he'll remeber his date?

Thanks for all of the compliments - it truely looks amazing in person. Austin, thanks for the "Austin Treatment" of lowering and wheels. Austin, you actually had a big part in helping me chose the color - so thank you! I was thinking about going a little lower, but as Jeff reminded me, the front splitter just barely clears the end of my driveway now - and could already act as road kill collector.

I'll post some close-ups in a week to try to show off the real color. I actually have to take it back to my body guy so that he can complete the wet sanding and final buff as he did not have time to complete it.

Looks just a bit different than it did in March of '07:

Glad I could help. :) I think it really does look bad ass. Next to Jeff's personal SS, this is my favorite SS so far.

Hi John
Car looks awesome. You did a great job in picking out a color for thr SS#3. I found 4 1/4" to the under side of the splitter was undriveable 5" worked out perfect for me, but don't look as cool. Nice job, enjoy your summer.

O crap, my bro just saw the look on your boys faces and looked at me and said, do you remember my 1970 hemi cuda ya wrapped around the tree just after you went over the no parking sign in 1979 and I said ya so....
then he said you had that same type of smile on your face just before you left with it.

What kit is this, will it work on an 08 and where do I find the specs?
The car looks beautiful, great job.

Its called the "Street Serpent". Jeff (the designer and builder of the kit) can tell you more. And yes it will work with an '08. No body changes (except for the hood) in '08.

So my clearance is 3 1/2" in the front. Yelloh, I may have just a bit more clearance as Jeff's splitter sticks out the most in the middle and wraps to conform with the edge - so I may be ok there.

Austin, your chopped color was very, very close to how it turned out - so again, thank you. As far as the hardtop goes, I debated long and hard about getting one - but I can tell you that as I am 6'2" and a biscuit shy of 250, it is virtually impossible to get in/out with the softtop on - so for me *******.

I'll post more pics in about a week to try to capture the true color in the sun. I still have to take it back to my paint guy so that he can do the final wet sand and buff as we ran out of time last week.

Cuda - I was a bit concerned with letting my son drive it, but he truely does respect the power and torque of the Viper. My scariest moment was when I had to say, "You need to give it more gas" about a year ago when I was teaching him how to drive a stick. I was even more concerned last night as the rain moved in. We did not have time to put the wipers on, so he called me in a panic. I met up with him and gave him my Rover to finish out the night with. Put on a fresh coat of Rain-X which worked perfect to get me home.

Austin is that your handy work on the rims. If they aren't really on the car they should be.
Those rims were made for that car and color
