Stuck in third gear???

WTH happened? I was driving, floored it in third gear to pass someone and when i got to shift to 4th, the tranny was stuck in 3rd. No matter what i was doing, the shifter was shaking like crazy and it wouldn't move. I pulled on the side of the road thinking i would have to call a towing and when the car was stopped, everything came back to normal. Restarted the car and drove home...

What happened? Really felt like something was stuck in the tranny. Has it ever happen to anyone else?

nobody? i was told that on some dodge cars, the H pattern was built into the shifter and not in the tranny which could cause the fork to slide between two gears.

Could this be what happened?

i used to have a mustang gt that did that. the tranny was fried.

Strange because when I drove your Viper it tranny was one of the best.
Your tranny was shifting very well ....

That can be some issue with sync rings.

What's the status of the clutch? Could be a sign of a slave cylinder going bad?

I have two spare trannies (used) available if anyone is in the market. I'll let them go el-cheapo! Need to offset the cost of some parts I already bought... including an upgraded tranny!

it never happened again, don't know what did that in the first place.

Could it be a stuck/broken slave?

i doubt it because even in neutral, shifter was stuck and rattling a lot. it really felt like i was between 2 gears.
