Suggestions on GTS modifictions

Hello lads/lassies,

My uncle just purchased a 1998 GTS and he would like to do the basic intake/exhaust upgrade for the sound primarily (car is fast enough for his skill level) and secondarily performance. Essentially he wants something that is loud, but with great quality rather than obnoxiously loud just for the sake of being loud. So what's a sure-fire intake/exhaust route for him to go?

My speciality is BMWs so I'm pretty much clueless in the Dodge arena.

I suggest Snake-Oyl. I've ridden in one with them many a time, and driven twice. It's the way a Viper should sound from the factory. It's the quietest of the "burblers". Sounds just like an SVT Cobra (non-supercharged) but with more pronunciation, deeper, and just a little bit louder.

I can't imagine a Viper sounding like a SVT Cobra, and I've heard them all... Just sounds totally different than a V8. All subjective, I guess...

Corsa is my favorite. Go to there webpage for sounds bites: www.corsaperf.com High flow cats and headers will make it sound even meaner....

Do not go catless, unless you like crazy loud.

For 75 bucks he can head over to Midas , etc or any muffler shop and have them go with straight pipes in the back (delete the mufflers) then order some smooth tubes in place of the corregated ones from the throttle bodies to the airbox. The of course, go with some K & N or S & B airfilters. www.roeracing.com sells these Total investment would be about 250 or so.

onerare, let me clarify on what I said (my words didn't do justice). At idle, the Mustang has a deep tone to it like a muscle car, so does the Snake-Oyl system (but deeper and more volume). On acceleration, it gets louder, still has some rumble in it, but smooths out. On deceleration, especially when letting the clutch in, it has those oh-so-sweet burbles and rumbles.

It sounds just like the Corsa's but to trained ears, S-O's has just a tad less volume and more rumble. In other words, if you don't like the sound, you're not a motorhead.

I'm leaning toward B&B with randomtech cats at this point.
