Hello Viper Owners...
Was told this is the place to get help and answers as to my new Viper. I am trying to get input on which is best as to a SuperCharger or the installation of a TurboCharger. Can you please tell me as to which would be best and who you would suggest as to installation.

Thank you for any information

INHO if you want BIG HP(and want to spend som BIG $) send your car to Heffner's Performance in FL. and go with a TT system, but the debate will rage on. As mentioned above many threads in the past on this subject.

lots of tuners with a good reputation(and quite a few with a bad one) out there sort through all the threads and find one you like(for my money Heffner's or DLM would be where my car went)

You are in luck. With Vipers, both Supercharger and Turbocharger systems are available. Both are proven and very successful.

Best bang for the buck is Paxton. Can get about 800 engine hp in a relatively inexpensive system. Power comes on progressively, and is usually traction limited in lower gears.

Big guns turn to turbo power for above 800 hp desires. Turbos are gonna cost you more, but have much higher development potential.

This being said, there are also Paxton systems around producing over 1000 hp, but they require significant internal upgrades.

I have been struggling with this question for almost a year, with plenty of really good people giving me plenty of really good advice. I have reached the following conclusion:

Paxton: Power comes on later in curve, limited to about 750 rwhp w/out major mods, cheaper. More tuners know how to work on them, bolt it on and go.

Turbo: Much more power available, comes on earlier in the power curve, fewer tuners that do a really reliable job. But DLM, Undergrond Racing, Heffner and Paolo Castenello, and I believe SVS all have really good systems.

I have 528 rwhp now. My car is a handful to me at that power level. I am going to go Paxton first, take her up to about 760-780 rwhp and see how I like that, and how she handles. If that is not enough for me, I will sell the Paxton and go TT.

I just dont think it is smart to jump from 440 rwhp (stock) to 800 rwhp the TT can deliver. Things happen really fast at those power levels. I recommend Paxton first.

Or bolt on a Roe blower and make mindblowing hp even at an idle.

Seriously, how much power are you after? Are you after drivability or bragging rights?

My 700+hp and 800+ tq mean that I can light up the tires at any speed (under the speed limit) in most gears by rolling on the throttle. I've got a 100hp Nitrous kit that has never been used.

... if you have a Gen 1 or 2.

If you have a Gen 1 or 2 you cannot beat a Roe.

Wow! I cannot believe so much info and want to thank each and everyone for your help. I had heard that "Underground Racing" is better than Heffner Performance and that there were a lot of problems with Hennessey Performance and never heard anything about "DLM?". I think I might start small with Paxton but I would really like to install Turbo. Have heard the other guys take too much time and don't produce their "stated" horsepower and hope that Underground will live up to it's reputation. Thank you again for all your help and hope to get this done before summer.

Another great tuner is Daniel Lesser, also known as FinalGTS of Viper Specialty Performance. He can do a killer Paxton install for you that will be very safe.
Dan can get you a rather quick turn around time.

For turbo, also look into Paolo Castenella. He has produced over 1200 rwhp on SRT's and at a very reasonable price.

Both these guys are very smart, as are all the others mentioned. I too, have heard very bad things about Hennessey, but all the rest of the guys mentioned are top notch!:2tu:

I have been reading the posts on these forums since 2000. I think it is fair to say that no one who was competently blown has ever complained.
