The 1997 viper was the one on e-bay that had 1669 miles and had never been titled.I am very excited I will complete the transaction this week.I have a few Questions, does anyone know the car, or have been to that dealership(Gengras cpd)?
What are things to look for on a 97?
This car has never been titled does that mean that I get the warr offered at that time in 1997, 3/36
or
Does the car come with the 7/70 that i think is the warr. now?
How do you think I did with the selling price, 55,100?
The GM.who is handleing the transaction for the owner is out of town until monday, sorry for all of the questions.
thanks marc :usa:

I think you did very well. The 25 mi. 97 went for 60k and I don't believe it had a warranty. The warranty is worth several thousand dollars. I believe you will receive the 3yr warranty but you may have the opportunity to also buy an extended warranty which is something I would definitely get. The biggest problem with the B/W cars is the attention your car is going to get. Congratulations!

The listing says:

"Yes, this car is NEW!!! It is an un-registered, 1997 Dodge Viper GTS that has been part of a private collection. The car is finished in Viper Blue and has the popular addition of the twin stripes. It has done 1,668 gentle miles in the last seven years. This is truly a unique opportunity to buy a new car.

The best part of course is that as a Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dealer, we are selling the vehicle as a new car and the car has a 3 year, 36,000 mile manufacturer mechanical warranty. This makes this car truly a one-off. Because of the age of the car, the paint warranty no longer exists. As we are a main dealer, we may be able to help with finance should you require it."

You did pretty well.... you will might get hit with gas guzzler tax, but I think luxury tax will be "0". It should come with the 3/36.... buy the 7/70. Be sure to shop the price for the 7/70, you should be able to get it well below the "sticker price", check with Woodhouse Dodge and others that sponsor this site, they know Vipers and ussually offer discounts on extended warranties.

The dealer is playinfg little game on this one, with those miles, it should not be sellable as a new car on MSO.... better hope the zone director does not notice the miles when it goes into the warranty system.

The 96 wheels are cast and MOST of the 97's are forged. I say most because they used up their stock of the 96 wheels on early 97's.
