Let me start off by saying I am not a big guy by any means. I wear a size 40 to 42 jacket, 5' 11" tall and 170 pounds. I have never had problems fitting in a seat of any car I have owned. The shoulder bolsters on this viper are just digging into the back of my Right shoulder blade! Are my seats just that worn out or was the padding lacking from the get go?

I'm very similar in size to you and find the seats extremely comfortable. I wonder if there is an issue with your padding...

Sounds like your padding might be to blame. I'm 6'2" 250lbs and find my GTS seats to be very comfortable, once I finally get in that is. How many miles do you have on your seats?

can you feel the metal frame in the shoulder bolster if you squeeze the padding down a bit? I wonder what happened to these seats. the car is a 1999 with 49k miles

Is the passenger side seat the same way? If not my best guess would be that the padding is just worn out from bigger guys like me getting in and out ALOT lol. Are there any other signs of heavy use like, large amounts of scuff marks on the door sills or balled up carpet on the door? These could support the frequent usage idea.

Just checked mine, if I press down enough I can feel them, I don't think they were super thick to start with but it's by no means uncomfortable when I'm sitting in it. I can't feel them at all when sitting in the seat actually. Check your passenger seat, Im pretty sure the padding's just worn out.

owner from whom I bought the car told me he never liked the seats yet I drove the car back (6 hour drive) and the seats were comfy, even my GF liked the seats so imagine that!

I had the same problem in one of my old vettes and then again in my Viper. The side seat cushion supports in a Viper are high and narrow for some of us with a little more padding and size than the normal slim, trim and fit body builders. The solution I found was to remember to take my wallet out of my rear pocket. Low and behold the pain I got after about 15 minutes of driving that was killing my right side from the waist down my right legmiraculously disappeared. Try removing that large "Vegas" roll from your wallet or just put the wallet in the glove box.
Joining the VCA would get a few of those bills out of there. :)

Good point on the wallet. I find that true in almost any vehicle. It's amazing when you suddenly remember about it, pull it out, and feel immediate relief while rolling down the interstate!

These seats are honestly the most comfortable OEM sports car seats I've ever sat in.

Seems really strange. Not that many miles on it either. Even if the seats were getting worn, wouldn't that create even more clearance up by the shoulders? :dunno:

All kidding aside.... Try using the pedal adjustments in conjunction with the seat adjustments to change your vertical seating angle. The seats are quite good.

Maybe that is what it is. Gotta drive s little but more like I am low riding and not have my shoulder against the seat.

Good point on the lumbar! But my poison it's coming from the shoulder and not the back. Think lumbar will help up there?

I think you just got a bumb seat. Did you check your p.s yet like people have suggested? Im 6ft and about 180, and my seats feel great, well the driver side. I've never sat in the passenger side. Like said by several others above, one of the best OEM seats i've sat in.
