The is the LONGEST ive ever gone without driving my sportscar since i've had a license. Going on 3 1/2 months now. The roads have just been filled with crap and salt since november. I usually drive the viper in the winter on sunny days when the roads are clean. No such luck this year.

Might be time to purchase a 2nd home in a warmer climate. Great time to buy a Winter Sportscar retreat!

Yawn. 70 in Texas today.

AGAIN.

Should be 70 tomorrow.

70 out at Motorsport Ranch on Saturday for Apex Driving School.

See the theme?

Texas winters are bad a...

Hey Dave, I spent a summer in Houston many years back at my cousins. "Westheimer" if I have the name right was a main road close by.
Dude, bugs so big you can ride em! and the summer was sooo hot as soon as we walked out side you broke in a sweat. Do you "adjust" to the heat and your body gets use to it over time?
I loved Texas and Dallas is beautiful. I was surprised how many "New Yorkers" were living there. Naturally the native Texans called me a Yankee:)
We have a two year plan to move South...can't wait.

Explaining Viper things to you

Houston being right on the Gulf has issues that the Dallas area does not. Such as big bugs, humidity, rain, etc.

I lived 30 years in Austin before moving to the DFW area. I really liked it, but followed my job here. Austin is a BIG city with BIG city issues. Traffic & cost of living etc.

Dallas is not a lot different from Austin, but I'm actually a southern burb of Fort Worth.

Back to the weather... It does get hot here. I remember a near record Summer 5 years ago or so we had like 58 straight days of 100+ degrees. Last year we broke 100 about 3 times. So it varies.

Do you get used to the heat? Kind of. Do you like that heat? Not really. But we do have lots of electricity to cool things. No black outs.

After living here for 47 years I laugh at the 90 deg heat waves that make the news in the NE. People start pulling out jackets and sweaters when the merc drops to 70 here. I'm not joking!

Yes indeed the Big City issues are closer and closer to us. We are only 50 minutes from Manhattan, GW Bridge. It's amazing the house you can have in Texas compared to what the same money can get you here. Thanks for the info. 24 months and counting down:)

Yeah, this winter has sucked. Not only has the weather been cold and snowy, but everyone is walking around coughing and sneezing. Friggin viruses everwhere.

The one upside for me being home unemployed the last few months is that I haven't gotten sick at all. No colds, no coughs, no sniffles. Nothing!

My dad was Air Force for 23 years and I was Army for 17 years. I hate winters. I live in KC because my daughter and grand daughter are here. While in the military I lived in Japan, Korea, Hawaii, Alaska, Philipines, Germany, Italy and been to several countries in South and Central America. Also spent about 10 months in the middle ease for something called Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

Anyways, out of all of those places, I love the USA the best as far as living conditions but need to move south. KC gets around 100 days a year where the temps drop below 32 for part of the day/night according to the alminac. That is too many cold days for me. Would love to move to Texas, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, New Mexico or Arizona for warmer weather.

Come on Spring time.

I'm more of a beer and wings man myself :D It does seem like its been colder for longer than usual, but then again, cold is anything below 70* to me. I've still got the hardtop on the McV, but I figure I'll take it off in March and throw it into storage until December or so :) We're in the middle of a longggggg drought (well, Atlanta is...I'm 1.5 hours south of Atl), so grass is dying everywhere, but Vipers are getting some miles racked up on them

I love the weather here (70 degrees and Sunshine), I drove the Viper to work, couldn't leave it at home dontcha know.

But I here you loud and clear about Mexifornia. I don't care for the politics, taxes and other things.
My brother lives in Austin ( Leander and now Round Rock , OK Dave) and I love it there. When and if my job goes away, I am selling the house and heading to Texas.

A place were common sense is a little bit more common. Besides they have great weather and the driving west of Austin is Awesome.
