Can anyone offer suggestions for options to deal with a speeding ticket in Illinois? I know someone who got a ticket for 90+ in a 55 mph. Or is it better to pay it and forget it?

It's worth it to go to court, even if you plead guilty. Wish I would have. At the very least, you'll probably get reduced time on supervision, possibly a lighter fine, and no driving school.

Check the violation code vs. what actually it was. Very common to have officers to site the wrong code. If it is incorrect, ticect is thrown out. Second, ask for a continuence at the time when eveybody shows up(for more time to prepare for the case). Your usually allowed three. May get lucky and the cop will not show up and it gets thrown out. Good luck,

A little off the topic, but I work on the same street that there is a Sheriff's station on (about a mile down.) A cop car drives by about every 10 mins or so it seems. Well I take the Viper out with it's incredibly loud exhaust system, and on my way back, I come to a stop sign to where I will make a right, onto this main street (the one where I work and the cops are.) I look left, there's a hill about 1/8 mi back, but no cars up to that point, so I go. Now this car has a tight clutch that is super sensitive (barely let out on it and the car leaps forward --- I stalled it several times when I first got it.) It requires a little more RPMS's to get it to go smoothly. As I pull out and am on my way to getting up to speed (45 MPH speed limit here) I see a cop fly up on my ass and turn his lights on. I literally laughed to myself, wondering what he was going to give me a ticket for, as I surely wasn't speeding and I didn't cut any cars off.

The copy walks over and aks for License and Registration and I give it to him and ask him what this is about, as I know I wasn't speeding -- I wasn't even done accelerating to get to the full speed limit. He says he pulled me over for 'Exhibition of Speed.' I'm like, "Huh? What!? " He says that I gunned it out of the corner and was showing off. I got pretty pissed as I in no way did this, no sudden acceleartion that is out of the norm for even a stock viper, no tire sqealing, no nothing. He goes on to say he heard the exhaust at which point I told him I just bought the car and the exhaust is extremely loud and that that's just the way the car sounds when you accelerate normally.

ANyway, long story short,I got a warning, and then he asked me how fast the car goes ;)

I haven't been pulled over in years, and I have never been pulled over for something non-deserving (I always know why I am getting pulled over and usually deserve it.) Not this time.

Thought it was an interesting story, as it was my first police experience with the Five-O.

Plead guilty and request supervision. Depending if you have a clean past record, 3 months supervision and after that, is it off your record and not reported to the state where your insurance can find out.

That much over could also be reckless driving.
Is driving school an option?
Might get a traffic ticket lawyer. Although it may cost you, in the long run with insurance primium possibly going up, this might be the way to go.
I got a 12 over in my ****** car, had an attorney I know contact his friend in the county where I got the ticket to represent me. He played golf with the judge and wrote the troopers recommendation letter. I got driving school and did it on line! Piece of cake! Got the ticket thrown out after I produced my completed and passed course certificate.
Good luck!

20 over in IL disqualifies traffic school. maybe the judge will make an exception for you.

I got a ticket for 83 in 65, cost 75 bucks. pretty cheap I thought. If I had known that, I would have been speeding EVERY trip through IL!
