I've had my 2000 GTS for 12 years and its time for paint. At first I was just going to repaint the same color but after thinking about it thought I can get a new car feeling if I change the color. I am going outside the factory colors and am looking at Superformance Indigo Blue with either pearl white stripes or titanium. What do you guys think? Here is a link to a pic...http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4salefolder/zelle-superform/zelle-075-1a-640x448.jpg

Just do it. If you have owned it this long odds are you are going to own it for a while more. A new color makes the old feel new again. And its a great color combo.

That looks like a factory color anyway though? I wonder what a Gen2 would look like in the Gen4 snakeskin green or copperhead; match it half black half green or copper.

Snakegreen would look interesting on a Gen2....but blue white does have it's own charm. Whatever colour you choose you can't go wrong, since it's still a Viper and they look good even in brown :rolaugh:

My humble opinion is that it looks close to the stock blue color. If your going to repaint, I'd go with something that stands out from factory colors, but not too crazy.

Agreed. If you do go with this slightly different blue, which is a beautiful color, I would go with the titanium or other color stripes instead. Matching white with that altered blue would look like an incorrectly painted '96/'97 B/W to me. Regardless, it's your car!

I appreciate your feedback guys. It is a darker and deeper blue than viper blue of 96/97. I think titanium stripes would look best as well.
I will post pics when it is done. If any of you are interested here is the Superformance formula in grams for this Indigo Blue based on 2 litres.
And I agree, I think it is a very classy color for the viper.

Superformance INDIGO BLUE
D754 786.0
D763 1538.0
D740 1730.0
D776 1912.0
D743 1929.4

Thanks again
Sean

The best repaints I've seen on GTS's on here over the years have been white. If I do paint mine it will be white. Even the GenV's look great in white. It just seems to work on that body.

Have always liked that color on Cobras, I to think it'll work on a viper.....though if you do stripes consider white as it makes the blue pop very nicely where a more muted gray, titanium, silver might not. You might be able to test it with vinyl before painting.....

Too close to the factory blue in 96/97. Why not go pearl white with GTS blue stripes.

I personally think white looks amazing on a gts. I have seen some done in green and different shades or orange. One was like a Lambo orange with polished wheels and it looked sick. Just different from the pack. And not for everyone.
Do what you like and enjoy it for another dozen years.

White!!!! Painted my old 99 white back in 2005 with no other pics to go off of. Yes mine was the first :). Ended up being the best depiction I've ever made which also influenced others through out the years to do the same. You won't be disappointed. If you think white GTS looks good in pics just wait till you see it in person!!!

could save a whack of dough by stripping the car urself, pulled the facsia and sills off and took em in, buddy based and coated for 400, when I painted the door, I stripped it down so the shop **** would not screw up the seals or dynomat, needed a new windshield so redid the roof with the door for another 400, and this was not a junk ooh ohh maaco job, then assembled it again myself, they probably ding at least a few hours just for the door stripping

A little long In uploading my color change, It took my paint guy a full year to do, he's a friend, what are you gonna do. Anyway here's the final product...I ended up going indigo blue with white stripes. Looks great in my humble opinion. I've got tha new car feeling and I've had it since 2002. Awesome car.

Looks great! But a year??? I was getting twitchy when my guy kept mine a week and a half to fix and paint my front facia. If I ever re-paint I might go Orange or something loud like that.

I understand your "new car feeling" as after a year, every car feels like a new one, as you aren't able to remember you had it in the first place
