Tire polish........what\'s the deal?

My 2 year old Michelin Pilots have a slight brown tint to them, even after washing with soap & water, I did a search about tire polish and saw a lot of info, even one of my old responses:

http://vca2.viperclub.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB14&Number=303030&Forum=All_Forums&Words=&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=301225&Search=true#Post303030

However, when I called Michelin they said to not to use anything but soap & water.
So what gives, is there a product out there that will not harm our tires, or should I just stick with soap & water and a slightly brownish tint?

Just stay away from tire dressings that contain mineral oil. That is what made the tires brown.

These tires don't last long enough to worry about shelf life with me so I just use Meguiars. One thing though try not to get the stuff on the tread, it can make the tires very slick while driving...

Once Meguiars Hot Shine is applied I just wipe dirt with paper towel. Dirt comes right off. I don't even wash them.

Do a search here for proper tire care.
