I think I'm going to repaint my whole car. Should I have the 3M put on it or not to prevent chips? I heard that after awhile it turns a yellowish tint. Is this true and how long does it take?
I'm talking about the stuff that is sprayed on the car like paint. My father in laws WS6 Firebird has it and it looks fine. But my paintshop guy said he doesn't like it.
Any help?
We used the 3M Film on most of the Vipers at the driving school and found it to be very durable. I'd highly recommend the film and know little to nothing about the spray on version.
I used to be a big proponent of this stuff: http://www.clearbra.net/home2.html. But lately they have been having problems keeping the adhesive on the material. I have ruined a bunch lately because as you install it, you must occasionally reposition it, and lifting this stuff has resulted in the adhesive coming off, which ruins it.
I have since switched to the 3M. It is not nearly as heavy and much harder to prevent kinks, but if you work real hard and don't handle it too much, it comes out fine.
Suggest you have it installed by a pro. If done right, it is great.
I'm also interested in the 3M paint protective film. I've been to their website and there is not much information about it there. I would be interested in a professional installer in the Orlando area.
Larry, you've done good work on my Viper, any suggestions?
