To mamba, or not to mamba, that is the question.....

Besides the incremental price difference between a standard SRT 10 and a Mamba edition is there any difference? What about depreciation and net values...does the Mamba enjoy a more residual value lift then a non Mamba?

I can get a 2005 new SRT 10 or a 2004 white Mamba edition.... the used Mamba is priced at a premimum over the new SRT.

Thoughts?

I don't believe that you really want to make the decision based solely upon price and resale. If you feel that the red interior appointments are worth more to you than having the current model year, then your decision is for the Mamba.

Buy whichever one appeals most to you is the best choice. You never said what was the color of the 2005.

Alice, I totally agree with your comment. The 05 is Viper Red with a black interior. I was just interested to see where the price points are for these SRTs. The Mamba had a red appointed interior with a Mamba tag sort of thing on the center console. Thanks for your reply!!

I may be biased, but definatly go Mamba- especially a White one. The White Mamba is the ONLY limited production SRT-10 color to date, and has held its value accordingly. The VCA ediditons were limited....until yellow became an 05 Color.

The White is a very striking color, matched only by the great combination of interior colors to accompany it, and offset it perfectly.

Just my 2 cents.

I was considering a 2004 white Mamba that a local dealer had leftover. For me, it was not a matter of wanting red trim but wanting white (I may be wrong but I don’t think they’re making white Mambas for 2005).

For me, trade-in and resale value did have a lot to do with my decision to go with a regular yellow 2005. It had nothing to do with Mamba vs. non-Mamba or any of that. It had to do with the fact that one model year difference is equal to about 5-6K at trade-in or resale even if all other factors are equal. In other words, if you can’t get a leftover 2004 for 5-6K less than an equal 2005, walk away.

Spent more time at the dealer today with the White Mamba. I have decided the White Mamba isn't for me. I am not a big "white car" guy -- not to slight those that like this color but with all the traveling I do seeing white cars makes me think "rental car white". I really like Alice's Black Mamba. The Black exterior coupled with the black/red interior looks really good! Only issue with the color black is "its black". I had a C5 black Corvette before and it was tough to keep it looking great all the time -- 20 minutes after its detailed, its dusty. Oh well, I think Viper Red is in my future. Cop color, mid-life-crisis color, blah, blah, blah.....

Sorry to hear about your decision too nix the white. I love white cars and think it’s the most user-friendly color available.

BTW – since you’re from Pennsylvania, I’m wondering if the white Mamba you’re looking at is the same one I was looking at. What dealer is offering the white Mamba you’re looking at and what town are they in?

29OUTLAW- In response to your previous question, no, they are not making any White Mamba's in 2005, and only made 200 White Mamba's in 2004. The White Mamba was also the ONLY way to get white, hence its limited production exterior color of 200 units status. The Black Mamba is based on a 03/04/05 color, and the Yellow from the 50 VCA cars is now a std. 2005 color.

I am not generally a fan of white cars, unless its pearl white, but the Viper SRT does NOT look like a rental car. I have not run into one person as of all last summer that didnt agree with me on White being the best SRT color. And yep, you are correct about White being user-friendly... it is VERY, VERY easy to take care of. Much easier than my Red/White 02 GTS.

There were 200 White in 2004, 200 Black in 2004, and 200 Silver in 2005. There were not any 100 counts, nor were there any Mambas in 2003 as you posted on the other site

Yeah, I was referencing your quote on the Mamba being the ONLY way to get a white Viper, but then saw the quote was January 2005... I don't think Commemoratives were out yet? Not sure when they decided to make them, but I heard it was late in the run to try and stir up sales of the remaining convertibles, since people were waiting for the announced 06 coupe? Someone can fill that all in...

Interesting to read an older thread and forward looking view of the white mamba value in original purchase decision. By the way the 04 white viper is a pure "Viper White" and provides a good contrast with the black vert top. The 06 VOI9 is more of a creamy white. The white color between the two are dissimilar. Personally I like the White on the 04 Mamba.
