Ok, in the middle of finally watching - much ado about nothing. The remarks by Clarkson and Captain Slow are what you'd expect (Though, panel gap complaints are pretty valid) - its entertainment.

While at Willow Springs Hammond remarks "The guts are of this car are what make it tremendous on track" - which IMO says it all. Really no comments on any of the cars, other than ripping on the LFA for various things.

The sound of that Aston is purely **** though

At the end of the episode Jeremy said the Viper was god awful....

That was more of a poke at Hammond being unable to defend the Viper since James and Jeremy conspired to send him to Mexico. They play up the hating on American cars theme but only the thin skinned will really take umbrage. They like to poke fun at Americana and Hollywood, and since Hammond is the most 'glamorous' they rag on him for his love of things American and his 'white teeth.'

Given that Clarkson loved the SRT when he tested it, although he was very critical of its soft points, I find it interesting that no one on the show had anything really positive to say about the car. It looks like its going to be a two part episode, but I am also suprised they did not take the Viper around the track... Anyone know if this was SRT's doing / will be aired in second part / cast of top gear is just being biased towards the Viper again? I would really love to see how it stacks up against the other cars on the track if driven by a professional (not Hammond)... I suspect if they do test it on the track it will be raining again though.

Seems you understand their "sense" of humor. Good you can decipher how they really feel.

Their test track is in the UK. The viper is here. I doubt that SRT is going to send a preproduction viper to England so Top Gear can take it around their track. The track testing done with the mules by the rags so far here would suggest that maybe it is a good thing they didn't give it to the Stig.

If you haven't watched Top Gear before I can see where you're coming from, but it really has been their schtick for years and years to bash the Americans. Jeremy and Hammond have both owned American cars so I'm betting that what they say on television isn't always really what they think, but more of a persona developed of the years.

I don't think James May owns anything American.

Some of you guys are really sensitive and lacking a sense of humor. The part where they drew a gentlemen's sausage in a storm drain was hilarious. Also if you have ever watched the show it doesn't matter what car Hammond picks they always evicerate him and the car. It's just for ****s and giggles. Lighten up. It's by far the best made and most entertaining car show on the planet.

Also it's not a car review show. If you want that go watch that horrible motor week show on every Sunday.

So does the pic in Ralph's tweet imply they sent a Gen 5 to England for the Stig to test? When will that be shown? Is it on episode 2?

+1 on that question.

That picture is cool. I'd really like to know what the stig thinks about the car.

I don't think the TG staff really cares what conditions are placed on the cars they are given...

Looks like it was the preproductin car they had on set. No doubt they tore it around the track - I'd suspect they will wait for a production model before actually doing a taping and lap time

Why is SRT sending a non trak-pak car out there? No aero package either. Good lord, do they ever learn??

Viper is not going after the track rats anymore, it's a civilized "GT" car now!

Stig will whip that Viper around the track just fine....no worries ... it won't beat the lap record but will be in some damn fine company near the top.:eater:

It was fine. It is a comedy show up to this point, other than the panel gap. And yeah, that LFA looks like a panel gap in front there.

Hammond seems to really like the car and mutter a few things it that effect. I suspect we'll get a bit more of a review this week.

+1000. The car will continue to get poor reviews as long as they continue sending out sub par cars to be tested.

As someone mentioned the only positive was that no one had a bad word about the interior. If it was lacking, especially in the company it kept with the Aston and LFA, they surely would have mentioned something. That is great news. On another note, you could really see the stiffness of the Viper translate in Hamsters whole body jiggling whereas, on that same road, May and Clarkson were noticeably not jiggling. The Viper will need a better "GT" suspension calibration especially if it want to be taken seriously as a GT car its being marketed as.

I didn't think the review was bad. It looked more of Jeremy Clarkson teasing Hammond rather than giving the viper a bad review.

 Unbelievable, they were talking about the GT500 Mustang tonight, and to sum it up they were saying how much more refined European cars are inside and how ride comfort is so much better...Unlike that Viper last week

Im sorry but this has really made me mad! I have a friend of mine, he has had almost as many cars as the Top Gear cool wall, Mercs, E Type jags, etc etc.

The thing is most cars are NOT an event. Take a Merc SL AMG, Brilliant car, you get in it and it does everything you require it to, but after a few months you get board because its too refined.

5 yrs down the line, EVERY TIME I pick up my Viper keys and walk down to the Garage my hand is beginning to shake, the hairs on the back of my neck are tingling, and when I turn the Key, OH BOY its Armageddon! God I love the Viper, Thank you AMERICA :usa:

Priceless!

You should forward your comment to the TG staff.
