Im planning on getting a GTS in the spring of 2011 and I was wondering if people could put some imput on what prices are now and will do next spring, due to the end of production of the SRT-10?

Im also trying to figure out what a fair price right now is, for either a 2000 GTS or a 2002 GTS (needs to be Steel grey/Graphite grey) milage from, lowest possible to 40,000. Theres a 2000 GTS with 38,000 on auto trader, looks like its in very nice shape and he's asking $31,500. Is this a fair price?

Im just a little confused because someone posted a reply to one of my other theads that he got a 2002 GTS ACR low miles lots of extras for $39,500. If thats a fair price for an ACR I would think that a normal GTS with higher miles would be 25k or under...am I wrong?

Thanks for as much help as you can give!!:2tu:

It would be rare to find a GTS for $25K. If you see a good one, grab it, it won't last long. Most are holding at $30K and higher.

Locally, 2 GTSs have sold for under 25k in the last month. I missed out on both but would have bought at that price no matter what the condition. One was blue+white.

Good luck! There are deals to be had...

I haven't said anything to anybody about this but I MAY be selling mine this coming Spring, the time you are looking to buy. The wife and I are talking about having another baby and if we decide to expand the family, I will probably be selling my GTS. Will know for sure in the next month or so.
PM me for details if interseted.

ACRs sell about $5k higher not $15k. You can probably get a GTS with less than 38k miles for $31,500.

Coming from someone who just bought a GTS, if you want to spend less than $37K, I found that you will get a questionable history and most likely will need some form of service.(fluids/tires/brakes/etc) If you find one for less and feel comfortable buying it...get it quick.

My biggest indicator on a "questionable" car was what was in the background of the listing pictures. Was it pictured in a cozy, clean, and climate controlled garage? Or, was it pictured in a Super Value parking lot? My conclusion was that if it lived in a nice garage, which is what I wanted, it would have been pictured there. It all depends on what you want.

a garage is one of the worst places to shoot a car, unless its really really wide, and very well lit

You get what you pay for... If color is most imporatant, you are gonna pay a premium for steel grey.

$35k to $45k depending on condition is what I would expect to pay. You can find higher mileage / poorly maintained examples for less....

... and if you want upgraded brakes (Gen 3 brakes), lightweight brakes, Aftermarket exhaust, Hi-flow cats, nicer speakers, lighweight wheels, new tires, recent upgrades or work add value to the car. You can save the most money by buying a car with all the upgrades you want already installed in YOUR car.

Big Brakes are good for a few thousand, PS2 an extra thou, SS 'engineered' exhaust and Hi-flows an extra thousand or so, ACRs have fully adjustable racing shocks and their condition should be looked into as they can cost $10,000 to replace.

Lighweight forged/billet wheels cost thousands. I wouldn't buy a car unless it was supercharged (both of mine are) so that MY VIPER is faster than every vette made, and faster than all the Gen4 Vipers. That only leaves me to worry about Ellow, Plumcrazy, Simms, Joseph and a few others that are "WORTHY", LOL. I have my 2000 Red/silver (1 of 25) ACR for sale for $56,000 Cdn (US car) in the VCA forums and I've been polishing, upgrading, new brakes, tires, stereo, rewiring Nitrous, etc etc. Car will be awesome when it leaves my posssession. Unitrax axles so that the car is as reliable as stock (except FAST) etc. You get what you pay for.

It depends a lot on the mileage, color, year and condition of the car and they can go from very cheap (low 30's) to very expensive > 100,000 for GTSR.

Right now I would say the average descent Viper is probaby in the 40 to 45k range. Keep in mind everybodies perception of descent is different.

It always amazes me when somebody tells me that their car is perfect and then I see it and I would have rated it a 5 out of 10.

I would say 31.5 for a 2000 with 38,000 miles is about right. Keep in mind most people consider 38,000 miles high mileage for a Viper. I do not know why they have this stigma since they are no different than any other car and can go 100 to 200,000 miles if taken care of properly. :dunno: Most people when buying Vipers want them with under 10,000 miles. If you are going to drive it don't worry about the mileage and save yourself some money.

Unless you find a really great deal, carfax records seem clean and you personally check the car out yourself I would not use auto trader, cars.com or any other source to buy a Viper. I would only browse the classifieds through the VCA and/or affiliated sites to the VCA. I looked for quite some time throughout the Internet and finally bought mine off a VCA member. I'm not saying that any Viper owner who isn't a part of the VCA doesn't treat their car with care, but from my own personal experience and I'm sure for several others, you feel a lot more at ease knowing your buying from someone who is a VCA member. Also, it's nice since there are a lot of people willing to go check a car out for you if they live in an area near where you plan on buying it. I bought mine from Detroit and had someone who was nice enough living local to where my car was to go check it out before I bought it. :)
