Over the years with each generation Viper. There has alway been speculation about a change to a smaller V8 engine. The new 8.4 V10 took quite a bit of development to become a high powered normally aspirated low emissions engine. All that for a limited production motor that will only fit one low volume model and some watercraft.
Enter the new 6.4 liter Hemi with variable valve timing, dual runner intake and MDS. This engine was built to pass emissions for many years and has improvements to the block and cooling system making it a great candidate for supercharging.
I felt like the nail was in the coffin for the old V1O when Kraig Courtney engine design supervisor for SRT said that this new engine might be seen in other "high end" applications". Courtney had no further comment on that, but nevertheless an interesting thought.
