Sorry for the late notice, there was almost no Fall Cruise this year since every hotel in the area was booked for this weekend.
Well after numerous hours on the telephone, I have been able to secure 9 hotel rooms in Charlottesville, Virginia, about an half an hour East of our normal overnight stay location in Staunton. So the Fall cruise can happen.
About the cruise:
We will meet in Winchester, Virginia on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM at the IHOP in Winchester off of Route 7 near the I-81 interchange. We will promptly depart at 9:30 AM.
On the first day we will cover about 280 miles. Our route will take us in a south west direction along the Appalachian mountains. We have 4 different pit stops planned for refueling and restroom intermissions. We will be traveling along the Virginia/West Virginia border throughout the day. Day one will conclude at the DoubleTree Hotel in Charlottesville Virginia around 5:00 PM.

The room rate is $139.00 to $149.0o per night, depending on room. I have only secured one smoking room. The remainder are a combination of King bed and double bed rooms.

On the second day we will cover about 230 miles and we will leave the hotel at 9:00 AM. On this day we will travel northwest from Staunton to Thornwood, WV. We will then take a Northeast route into Strausburg, Virginia. The fall cruise will end there around 3:00 PM allowing everyone enough time to get back home.
NOTE: We will be traveling the same route we traveled last year on both days.
If you do not want to participate on both days, you don't have to. You are welcome to come along for as much of the cruise as you wish. We have had attendees only participate on one day or even as little as part of the day in the past.
If you wish to participate in the Fall Cruise, please let me know as soon as possible. You will need to contact me so that the room reservation can be changed to your name. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy for the room. Please keep this in mind when making the reservation. I will be canceling any remaining rooms by Wednesday, October 4th.
Since some members only have dial-up, I will post pictures of the route up on the VCA Website under the Events Forum.
