THe parking attendant is still alive. You have great control my friend. Do you have a body shop that knows how to "work" with the adjuster?

You don't want paint? In other words, only a new part already painted at the factory will do? The only way is to find a local salvage yard with a matching Viper. The reason I say local is you can't realistically ship a 1/4 panel, door and rear bumper without damage (scratches) and you probably want perfect stuff. The wheel is easy.

NEVER give the keys to a valet.

Funny story from last week. There is an upscale restaraunt in my office building, and often on Fridays, we'll go down for some drinks after work. There were two valets working last week, and when I parked the Viper out front, the one asked for a ride. I said sure, and I took him on a spirited ride around our rather large parking lot. However, I heard sounds of another car racing behind us trying to catch up... it was the other valet in a brand new BMW 5 series that he had just taken from some old guy, running the motor flat-out and screeching the tires around turns with a big grin on his face.

DON'T TRUST VALETS, IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

WOW! That sure ***** D!!!

As usual, I'd speak with Chuck. I know he's got a great body guy that he's worked with for some time. Check it out.

That *****! Always demand to park your car yourself! Recently I went to the Four Seasons in DC for a wedding, and when I pulled up, of course the valet comes up. I said "I have to park it myself." He says "we don't allow that." I said again "I have to park it myself!" And then some other guy comes over, and says okay, and gets in the passenger seat and escorts me to a nice spot in the garage. And of course, as with other underground lots in DC, it has a steep incline that quickly levels out, so I could only imagine the guy having run it right into it and scrubbing the hell out of it if I had let the valet drive it (though it was not as steep as others in DC).

On a previous trip to DC for a conference, my hotel used an underground lot next door, and the valet guy there absolutely refused me to park it, but eventually admitted that my car would probably scrub badly if it even went down. So I parked it on the street overnight in DC, and had no problems with the car, though I found a different lot a few blocks away to park in for the remainder of my stay.

Either way im glad because i wouldent have let them any damm way.

D
damn man im sorry that shyt happend but you man not actually get the run around SOMETIMES they actually pay out if they know its their mistake, it happend to a friend of mine and not only did the pay for everything on the car but we had free dinner there for about 3 days (and the car was a POS maxima) but i would call Chucks guy and get a total est and bring it to them.

Damn man. That stinks. You usually never think of a Valet doing something like this. Are they going to pay for it to be fixed? I would assume so.

VERY SORRY TO read/see the damage...I know you don't need to hear another "don't let the valet park your car story" but I have a funny little story, from the mid 90's, when I had a nice shiny black 88 RX-7...No mods, just well kept and fun little car for the time...

One evening parking at a nice restaurant with my better half, the valet opens her door, and quietly says to her (I could not hear) "he should not be leaving a nice car like this with the valet"!!!!!!!!!!! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

She tells me this during dinner....

So no damage that night, but most receipts I have seen use a lot of language to "limit" their liability...

I think the legal wizards from the VCA should come up with our own "form" for the valet to sign, which will bind them to liability for any damage incurred, with repair specifically stating new parts, no filler! I'll bet this would end the "we must park your car" discussion :2tu:

I dunno..there's valet parking at the Marriott in Troy, MI. It also has a huge parking lot where I can park it myself and just walk the extra 100yds...

Why is it necessary to valet with all its' dangers anyway? Some sort of power trip? Sorry I just don't get it.

..Even if I hadn't seen those valets firing up a cold engine and roaring out with the tires squealing to the front of the hotel.

What percentage of you guys allow 17 yr old kids who have never driven shifts, park your car?
I can't see myself doing that.

Man, I would never give the keys to anybody ever...I even refused the "Shop Manager" who inspected my Viper this year, the keys...he wanted to pull it in , and I politely...said..uh nothing personal, BUT nobody drives this car but me.
