Hey Guys, In just the few days I've had my car ALL of the Vette guys have been waving at me when we pass. They NEVER wave at me when I'm in the Porsche (they don't know I'm the same guy) But should I wave back to them now! Thanks

5+ years and 50k miles and I can count on one hand the # of times a Vette guy has waved at me. Sure, wave back. No sense in making them think you're a "Viper ****".

You know thats probably what they thought when I was in the Porsche (cause there are a few) but I'm not what you would call a Porsche Purist, I just like nice cars no matter what kind they are. Thats why I bought the Viper & I love it more than I would have ever imagined.

Not me...all I get is revving engines behind me, and tailgaters.

Ohh, they disappear in the rear view mirror after that, though.

Nice? Not.

I had a guy in a yellow C6 wave at me in my GTS this past weekend. I was so surprised that I didn't have a chance to wave back. I kinda felt bad about that. It's all good with car guys!

You better look a little closer, they're probably giving you the finger.
In six years I don't think 3 Vette guys have ever waved they just pretend they don't see you.

Hahaha. It's probably a nervous wave now... they weren't intimidated by the Porsche, but now...

i get about 1 in 50 who wave or nod or acknowledge in some way... I assume most of them are too busy getting back to the golf course or their knitting club to notice.

1 in 50? That's in a 10 minute drive!

You should add your VIN on your profile and then ping kcobean and he can change your tag to "Viper Owner". Of course, once the VCA registration opens up :eater:, then you can upgrade again.

I always wave back. sometimes I wave first. at racetrack events, the vette guys are probably the nicest drivers of all. porsche and ferrari guys are usually the biggest A-holes, especially at the track. I lose count of the number of times I am on the track breathing down the ass of one of these guys and THEY ARE JUST NOT MAN ENOUGH to let me by/admit they just aren't as fast.

The wave is certainly a Corvette thing, amazing that 90% of Corvette owners still do the wave. I thought the "nice ride" sign was the thumbs up (that's the prevailing form of "hello" I've noticed when two interesting street machines encounter one another)....maybe that could be confused with "wanna run?"......:drive:

I'd say about 50% wave and the others pretend like they didn't see ya. There's lots of classic muscle cars around here. Way more than Vettes even. On any given Friday night or Sunday afternoon There are dozens on the road. Those guys always wave.

Several Vette owners around here and they all wave,so i figure if they can be cool about it,i can too. I bought a nice Gibson guitar yesterday at the music store and the salesman talked me into a package deal on a Martin too. I thought things were going good until i told him owned a couple Vipers. He strangely got quiet and eventually he said 'sorry,i own a couple of Vettes'..i said why sorry? i like Vettes too. We talked cars a bit and i got a few hundred extra off the guitars,so it worked out well for me anyway! :drive:

I quit waving at Corvette drivers because I use to always wave, because I thought we all had a common interest but 99% of the time they NEVER wave back so one day I told myself that I can be snooby too in my VIPER, so now if a corvette driver waves at me then I definately will wave back, otherwise I can be stuckup also....Sad world, huh? I don't think anyone is any better or worse then me, we all put our pants on the same way. CHEERS...

Ron, at first I thought you had seen another post about what I said (When I was lookin to buy I only wanted years 98'-02' because of that exact reason the the 03's & newer had that Vette resemblence) does anybody else not think that. There are some beautiful 03' & newer cars, but I just couldn't get over the fact that (to me) they do look alot like a Vette. What was the reasonin behind the change in the body style to begin with. And I know I would probably love the more hp & newer creature comforts of the newer cars, just not the similarities.

All American automotive muscle. Gotta be worth a wave.

Cute girl in a VW waved to me last week. Gotta believe I waved back to her too.

I'm pretty free with my waves.

Even wave to guys on Harleys...

I initiate a nod or thumbs up to the driver of any performance or specialty car that catches my attention, usually followed by the fangs sign. I also wave back followed by the fangs to all who initiate a wave. Porsche drivers never wave (and I ignore them too), Vette owners seldom - even if I initiate the contact. I experience far more acknowledgements with tuners and low-riders than with Corvettes. I don't understand why because I've cruised with Corvette clubs and generally found the owners to be friendly, down to earth folks, far less pretentious and guarded than Viper owners.

I'm a vette guy, so I wave at every vette or nice car... I pulled up next to a Porsche Turbo Cabrio the other day to give the owner a nice car compliment... the look on his face was priceless - he was totally shocked.

I've never heard "the" reason that the body style changed, but since the GenIIs had a 7 year run and the GenIs 4 years, guess they thought they could do better.

You know what they say about hindsight:omg: Still the Gen I and IIs had a nice run. I'm glad they aren't still making them. Makes mine that much more unique.

Didn't look at it that way, but it does make sense. In the Porsche world they like to say buy the newest you can afford, but in the Viper world I don't necessarily agree with that. Can you tell me from 03's to 2010 (Vipers) which year or years is considered the least desirable.
