So we were at the credit union and the loan person wants to confirm the price of the car, because they give a certian percentage of the loan to the car.. so for example 90 percent of the value of car up to 25 thousand.

anyway on her computer she uses some program called MDA or MKA or something and she types in the VIN number of the car im buying, but nothing comes up. I confirm the VIN number several times but it doesnt.

She tries to manaully do a search for a dodge viper, but under dodge no viper is listed on the options.

Was it just her computer? she tried 2 different programs. Is there another official way of comfirming the price of the car? i asked about kelly blue book but she said no.

UGHH im so frustrated by this.

That is ****ed up... sorry to hear about the situation. So will any other bank or credit union able to finance you?

I've never heard of a financial institution not financing a car based on the number of cylinders. Take your business elsewhere.

Good luck!

well this place eagle rock will finance me, but when they tried to put the vin number in there computer nothing comes up. When she tried to do it manually by checking the List of cars, she clicked on dodge but no viper option was availaible.

THe orange county credit union is ****, but if this eagle rock cant do it, i dont know what other credit union i can go to in orange county cali.. so frustrating

I ran into the same problem earlier this year, and they finally figured it out.

I think they ultimately had to do it "manually", whatever that means...probably not running it through some program that stores Camrys and Accords.

I also had this issue earlier this year on my 98 GTS. The credit union that I go through was having trouble with getting the NADA value. The finance manager believed it was because there are not enough of these cars sold each year to get an accurate estimated value using whatever the normal calculation is for NADA. Thankfully they finally got it taken care of.

We have a problem similar to this in the UK but its with Insurance companies, There computers can find 'Chrysler Vipers', but can not find 'Dodge Vipers' There is a difference, Euro spec Vipers have different mods. You have to find a Specialist Insurance company if you Import a Dodge Viper ;) Chances are if you did not and Insured it under Chrysler, the Insurance companies would not pay out if you had a problem!

Might be worth trying the 'Chrysler Viper' route to see if that works on their system?

Is there a way you can find out how your credit union did it manually? i have another VIN number im gonna have them try, its for a different viper if that doesnt come up then i know for sure its just vipers, and not just THIS viper. I hope they can do it manually.

this is very easy, all they have to do is underwrite manually using NADA or KBB.

Because u mentioned that another credit union wouldn't finance 10 cylinder cars I have a feeling that this company does not either......(that's why it's not in there system). That would be my best guess and it makes sense. Good luck

Looks like your might be going to your local Loan Shark, either that or just wait until you have the cash....

Credit unions usually have a better rate. My CU wouldn't do the viper either when I wanted so I got the loan at a regular bank and then transfered it to the Credit Union. For some reason they were fine with that. Go figure. :dunno:

He means the Pentagon Federal C/U. You don't have to be an active military member to join either. My dad was an airforce Captain so I got in. Currently offering a 3.99% rate, but they also couldn't find my Viper's VIN at first either. Push for a supervisor.

I can use it for whatever I want, but the rate is variable. My primary mortgage is small because I'm old and bought the house 100 years ago.

The only gotcha with this HELC is that I got it when the credit union first started lending them and this version has a 1.4% of the outstanding balance minimum payment. It allows a big purchase to be smoothed out over time, but does get you to pay back sooner rather than later. I really should pay off the first mortgage and get a "new" HELC without the minimum before my house value is down even more...

Everything worked out! the loan was approved, i have to take in some income varification stuff with me on thursday but the deal SHOULD be done on thursday and the car will be mine. IM DIFF taking pictures and starting a new thread with it.

On wensday im taking it to the dodge dealership and having it looked at (paying 150 bucks) and making sure theres nothing wrong with the car, and smoging it of course. so hopefully everything will go well.

But THURSDAY is the big day and i will have a camera in hand!

On my wifes Sequoia there was a major s%*t storm between the credit union, our insurance company and the dealership.....apparently a "B" looks very similar to an "8" on a sales contract when stuff is faxed back and forth. Although I found the problem for them in 30 seconds when they told me my VIN didn't exsist, it took 3 days for them to sort it all out.

Glad it's working out for you.

Cheers,
George
