My dad just bought a 2002 Vette... I traded him my Lexus GS400 for it for a couple of days....

first impressions? we all know this, but, just no comparison AT ALL to the Viper.....

just doesn't have that raw, brute force, slam you back in the seat, instant grin from ear to ear, feeling...

don't know if I could ever get rid of the Viper now....

I know how you feel. I took a new Vette for a test drive this Summer. It was way too tame. Those Vette owners don't know what they are missing. Lucky for us. Hey, but it has cup holders.

Hey, you better put some more space between those two cars.

I've heard rumors, (not sure if its true) that late in the night Corvettes getting jealous of the Vipers good looks, and putting door dings/chips in the Vipers paint. Better be careful

Having owned a Z06 for almost a year, I will say that the power was no comparison to the Viper, the brakes were actually worse than the Viper brakes (on the track, I'm talking), and the seats in the Z06 were actually terrible for the track. I'm not a big guy, so I'm perfectly comfortable in the Viper seats for daily driving, and I'm much more comfortable in them at the track. The Z06 seats, because they are so flat and bolster-less, do nothing to keep you in place during hard cornering.

That being said, I'd rather drive the Vette as a daily driver. More space, more tame, nifty features like traction control and active handling to keep you out of trouble when you don't want to focus 100% on driving.

Vipers are great.
Corvettes are too! I own a '57 Corvette and a '94 Viper. Both cars are almost a headache because of all the attention they draw. I guess it could be worse if you drove an explorer.

Darth Vetter....

it's a coupe with the 6 speed..... I don't think its an abnormally slow one either, it gtec'd it at 13.3 @ 111, and from my experience with gtec's that would have been a 13.0 - 13.1 run at the track

if you want to talk about really slow vettes, I gtec'd my friends C5 automatic converible at a whopping 14.5 @ 101, I get better results with my Lexus GS400...

heh... maybe you haven't run across the right Viper, ever run against a 1000+ rwhp, 1200 rwtq, Viper.... im sure he'll be more than glad to give you an "ever shrinking view of HIS tail lights"... there are plenty of ****boxes out there that are plenty fast and would give most cars a good wooping, doesn't make them better....

just because most people can't threshold brake, doesn't mean the Viper's brakes ****... just requires more skill..

I wasn't trying to put down the vette, just stating that since I've already been driving the Viper for a while, the Vette just doesn't do it for me... If I had never driven a Viper, I'm sure the Vette would have given me a better impression...

As usual. I agree with Sheyster.

I hate when these threads turn into "Oh yeah. We my buddy has a 88 IROC with 1,200 HP and blah blah blah'

Thats nice. I like my viper. Not the fastest car in the world but it looks cool and sounds cool and is somewhat original. ALLTHOUGH A 700 HP COLT IS PRETTY ORIGINAL TOO.

Peace

Vettes/Vipers,No comparison.
The Viper wins hands down,in the looks dept. and in the power dept.,Vettes truly are a dime a dozen, but Vipers have a certain mystique about them, you can talk about modded cars all day long, but stock to stock the Viper stomps the Vette!

I like vettes, hell I have one (90 ZR-1), and I'm planning on getting a C-5 for daily driving.
At the track anything can happen, it is all traction, and reaction time.
Now on the streets and from a roll the GTS wins hands down.

Have any of you guys driven a viper, or raced one from a 50 mph roll...
Let me tell you.. Viper 4th gear is a *****!!!... It pulls and pulls...

Don't put all your moneys in one bag and go by someone elses track times or even what you've seen at the track.. (Most Vipers I've seen here are 12.5 at 115 mph)... when you run one from a roll you'll believe!!.. Trust me

Hey I like vettes too. I've owned almost a dozen of them and still have an *** kicking one. You can do whatever you want to a vette, but it's still going to look like a vette. That's why i bought the Viper. The Diablo is going to be my next adventure.
Peace.
