Perople not understanding what a "hand wax" means is one thing, more people don't by far than do. But this is idiotic!

Local carwash here use to have and advertised a "hand wash".
There were "hand washers" inside the very beginning or "wash" section of the carwash facility. The track still pulled / pushed the car through to the next stages like rince, wax blow dry etc

And what do you mean "the rear tires hit the automated track" and bounced the back of the car up? This was the handwash, right?

The car was supposed to go around back for a hand wash. The attendant misunderstood and took it into the automated wash. I think I said this before but the back glass shattered when the rear tires hit the automated track, bounced up and then came down hard. They are putting it up on a rack and measuring all the known points on the frame to determine if it got bent at all.
Compared to the other Vipers that are in the same shop for repair mine looks like a fender bender. There's a Gen III in there that a guy let his wife drive(for the first time) and she spun out on a turn and ran into a tree. Probably another forum member who's too embarrassed to tell his story. I think I'd let the car wash guy drive my car before I'd let my wife behind the wheel!

dyeguy, I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune and commend you for tolerating the people that are slamming you while your down. :2tu:

I'm curious; since you are in AZ, what shop you brought your Viper to for repairs?

....and not to sound like a vulture, but if they total your car, I'll trade you my stock wheels plus cash for those awesome CCW's (that is if their 18" and still true). It might put a little extra cash in your pocket.

Good luck!

Jim, sorry I just noticed your post. I took the Viper to Eddie Martin at Bill Luke Dodge who as you probably know is "The Viper Guru" in AZ. Eddie doesn't like to have his own bodyshop there at the dealership work on Vipers though because they are more of a production shop. He took it over to Mike's collision in Mesa as they do great work and specialize in Vipers. The wheels are actually 19" fronts and 20" rears.

Reading the above, does that mean that you are getting it repaired by them or just have a damage assessment done?

That's the shop that wrote up the estimate of repairs. Don't know yet what the insurance company is going to offer to do but there is a good chance they are going to total it. The adjuster has assessed my car's value at $48,000 though.

I find it hard to beleive that you let someone other than yourself touch your car. I don't even let my wife open the door or close it. Just makes no sense.

I wouldn't take my car to a car wash if it was free and they were giving away hundred dollar bills.

Absolutely agree, this is not the family truckster---you shouldn't be allowing others to touch the car at all, not for washes or oil changes etc. DO IT YOURSELF!!! That way, sh*t like this won't happen. I service a number of VIPERS at my shop, and I always ask if the owner would like to pull the vehicle in with me directing them. They usually say no just take care of it, because I own a VIPER myself, but for simple jobs like oil changes, and car washes, that you can and should be doing yourself, if for no other reason than pride of ownership.. That and the fact that people who do only those jobs, are of a much lower skill (and maturity) level and are just dying to wreck your baby for you.
Very VERY sorry for what happened, and yes you need to get an ATTORNEY RIGHT NOW!!!! just to cover your ****!!!

First off....I know the thread is old....But there's NEW GUY'S here every week that may just be reading it now...Maybe it prevents them from making a similar mistake.

That mistake being....Letting ANYONE drive your Viper.

ESPECIALLY a car wash attendant or valet.

I can understand how these mistakes get made...I remember a post from a member about him taking his Viper to a Conn. Casino and NOT letting the Valet's touch the car....They INSISTED THEY had to park it....HE insisted they WEREN'T....Phone calls were made to management and he ended getting his car parked in FRONT and HE kept the keys...

This guy was very smart....He didn't allow the "this is our policy" BS sway him. He told them to call management and informed them if they wanted HIS MONEY in THEIR Casino, he'd be keeping HIS KEYS in his pocket!!

Very smart guy and a post I'll remember.
