Sorry if this has been addressed already but how strong is the VCA for 2014 now and will there be a VOI or similar events planned for the year? Thanks

In a recent email from our Zone Director, it was stated that VOI 14 is in the planning stage.

Where, the local Pizza Hut in Kanses City.? Probably be big enough to hold the remaining members. Just imagine...Pizza, $50 a slice. You can buy your tickets from Chris or Mary.

Hope the Magazine commitment is fulfilled as promised . :dunno:

Notice that the renewal email I saw a copy of only stated that you would get "Viper Magazine". There was no mention of the number of issues, so unlike this year where people got screwed bc the VCA was out of money to print and mail them, next year all they have to do is send out 1. As long as 1 issue goes out for 2014, they technically fulfilled the wording of the magazine commitment.

Viper Magazine used to be called Viper Quarterly and was produced 4 times a year. A few years ago they decided at a Presidents meeting, to increase it to 6 issues per year at the request of the advertisers that wanted more timely promotional opportunities. This has turned out the be a pretty agressive decision, and difficult to get out an issue every two months, instead of every 3 months.

They were told to take their printing contract out to bid, and this resulted in changing to a printer that offered to reduce their costs by about $5,000 per issue. ($30,000 per year).

The combination of an agressive publishing schedule with changing printers startups has caused several delays. At the next Presidents meeting, it will most likely come up again to continue with the 6 issues per year, or go back to the previous 4 issues per year.

Most comments agree that the quality of the magazine (aside from some early binding issues) has been pretty good.

Ticket that they would probably sell for 500$ with a ''to be determined'' date or to be announced in the next Viper Magazine...... and tickets to be received a week after the party.....

If you don't like it you don't have to stay around though. No sense being negative about things now with other options on the table. There's still some waiting to be done. It's the end of the year and lots of people have holiday plans. Not a lot of stuff tends to get done this time of year and I wouldn't expect to hear much until the beginning of next year.

Not to divert, but sometimes I have to wonder what people who, at most, only pay a max of $150 a year for a Venom membership expect of an all volunteer Board. They are not our slaves or servants. They are fellow Viper owners, in all cases the friends of many members, and car nuts who have decided to endure quite a bit of abuse by a number of posters and spend a great deal of time to try to move the VCA forward. At this point in time and in this season of giving, I think that we should all try to remember this.

All the board had to do was get rid if the Marshal's. That is the crux of the problem. They orchestrated the letters and false claims against Ralph Gilles, the very person that the viper community should be thanking. Get rid of them...and see the VCA regain members. Until then, it's just as people are saying...same old, same old.

Keep in mind, there are a number of people that are on the fence, may join neither club, or may join both clubs. Without information or visible changes it is easy to accuse people of fishing, not letting things go, or just stirring the ***.

Factually - what changes have been implemented? What bylaw changes are being considered? When will a vote happen to fill all of the open positions? Did the board suspend some of the people that caused irreparable harm to the club including Lee and the Wolsteens? What contingency plans are being put in place if in fact a number of regions do leave?

My full disclosure - I was a member for 10 years. Did not rejoin this year based on what was happening and have not joined the new club.

If you're not coming back you don't necessarily have to trip people on your way out though. If you've given up just let it go and let people decide for themselves.

Chris is my friend, but I haven't seen him in probably 6 months or more. It's irrelevant anyway. Frankly, if more people knew the hell that several people in the club were put through because of all this I hope you'd see that it was really uncalled for. It's one thing to try to fix problems, it's another to harass and borderline destroy some people's lives.

I'm not even a fan of Jon B., but your reply begs the same question for Jon (or anyone else that questioned some of the decisions before all of the **** hit the fan).

Been away for a while and staying out of this, but I have to comment about your statement above.
Most of the people (specifically Lee and CM) have been "going through hell" due THEIR ACTIONS, not other people's. Unless you consider the bringing to light of their actions to be the real issue here.

A lot of that stuff was never necessarily proven though. Regardless, people don't deserve to be treated like that. Like I said, it's one thing to fix problems, it's another when you start personally harrassing people. You don't beat and starve prisoners, you just take away their freedom.

Since when does Mary have anything to do with the alleged issues? To state same is inaccurate and unfair.

The people who hurt the VCA the most, and in some cases still are trying to hurt the VCA, are the people who decided that the alleged words and acts of a few people passing through its leadership were more important than the VCA itself.

Chris and Mary destroyed what was once a great club.

Thank you Bob. I couldn't express what is STILL wrong with the VCA better then you just did. It is Absolutely hilarious to see the lengths you go to avoid the truth. WELL DONE.

There is not one word that is not true. There were, and still are some probems. They were caused by the words and acts of a few passing through the VCA leadership ranks.

The VCA has a long and noteworthy heritage. Those who chose to leave based on the words and acts of the few gave insufficient weight to that heritage and instead acted out their anger and frustration by leaving. By doing so, they made the words and acts of the alleged "bad guys" more important than they should have ever been.

As I said in another thread, a different alternative was recommended after Lee resigned and Maurice was invited back; and, before the new club was formed. It was posted in multiple threads. It proposed that Maurice accept the position of National VP that was offered to him and utilize the combined power of the Regions, who were already upset by Lee's temper tantrum in the telecon, to mount a rapid reform effort. That route was not taken for emotional reasons not logical reasons. The result was the formation of a new club and a duplication of effort within the context of a relatively small group. Did that serve the best interest of the members in the long run? Time will tell but I doubt it.

What we are left with is two clubs which have very similar websites and goals for a population of active members that is probably 3000 or less. If the Gen V sales pick up steam and the Viper survives, maybe that number will grow a bit. But if it does not and the car dies after the 2015 model year, both clubs will experience the ususal decline in membership and activity that occurs when a car is no longer produced.

From a strictly business point of view starting a new club in an uncertain and possibly shrinking member market environment was not the right move. Solving the problems of the VCA and cutting expenses to ensure its ability to survive if the worst case scenario occurs was the more appropriate action.

Many will get angry at this analysis and say it is Monday morning quarterbacking. But it was obvious from the beginning and that is why the alternative strategy was recommended after Lee resigned and before the new club formed.

Again Bob, until the Marshal's are completely gone from ANYTHING VCA related, this club will not be seen as taking the steps necessary to ensure it's future. You keep avoiding that. It is a fact that cannot be avoided.

You keep saying "the Marshals." I understand the historical source of your comment as it pertains to allegations regarding Chris. ( And I want to emphacize the word "allegations." To my knowledge none of the financial allegations were proven.) There were many posts regarding same.

But I do not understand your reference to Mary. There were posts from both sides of the fence praising her efforts. I think that it is inappropriate and grossly unfair to Mary to use the term "the Marshalls" in that context.

She is just has complicit as her spouse. Along with Marv and Lee. And of course the current President Dan. He seems to fit right in with the aforementioned bunch.

Let's stay on point. You made a disparaging remark about Mary. No one posted anything negative about Mary during the heat of the problems. In fact both factions complimented her efforts. So what is the specific factual basis for your remark? Trying to divert to Marv, Lee and Dan will not cut it.
