The abs light just came on and I was wondering if low brake fluid can cause it. I just checked the level and its not to low but not full either. Waiting for the auto parts store to open. Just as luck would have it I have a whole can of dot 3 and need dot 4.

also part 2 of the question:

Will the car pass inspection if the abs light is on??

thanks in advance for any answers.

I have experienced it and for my car it was a rear wheel speed sensor. Small $10 plastic sensor. Not able to take the heat generated on the track

If you connect a DRB you can determine what aspect is bad, but it took trial and error part replacement to isolate the part (vs wiring or other aspects). Lucky for me the first part tried resolved it (also the cheapest and easiest).

The car WILL pass inspection in New York State. As a dealer in NY we run into this from time to time and as long as the check engine light is not on and it's just the ABS light, it will pass.

My ABS light just went on while driving about a week ago. I will probably just bring it to the dealer since i dont know where to look.

When I went to pick up my car at DLM after the install, we got the same light and found the seatbelt alarm switch under the passenger side was disconnected. For some reason this was the issue and turned off after it was reconnected.

Viper D was just here and it is the right wheel speed sensor. On order!

Any idea if there is a newer/better sensor? Before I hit th etrack in June I may try to make a small heat shield. Failure on the track is not good.

to answer the original question, NO, Low Brake Fluid will NOT cause the ABS light to come on. It causes the BRAKE light to illuminate.

Maybe i will try to check it out myself instead of taking it to the dealer first if its only a sensor. Where are the speed sensors located? is it for each wheel? anyone by any chance have a picture?

Thanks in advance.

Front sensors are 04854412AA and rear are 04854414AA.

Yes they are at each wheel. Follow the wire. Easy to find and easy to change.

Yeah,

I lost a left front wheel speed sensor at the track one day. Apparently when one speed sensor fails, the ABS system goes off line.

Yes, and then it can get quite dicey if you are not aware of the loss of ABS. Do not ask how I know.
