The HMS 550 package lists for $22K. Should have 505 rwhp & rwtq. I recommend you have it dynoed to ensure the upgrade package is still intact as installed. If you need a listing of the upgraded items email me. Good luck. Would appreciate a follow-up posting if you buy with pics.

Man, Bonkers, if you're gonna bash the guy don't do it by posting a poor quality ABSO-FRIGGIN-LUTELY HUGE, not even entertaining, pic causing the rest of us poor fools to have to scroll side to side for the remainder of the thread....

PS - that's WORSE than the all caps.....

To the original poster - most oftentimes, a tuner package does not add all that much value to a car, and the amount lessens as a percentage over time. Dyno the car, make sure everything is still there - try to get confirmation that it is real - I've seen a few red RT's running around with Venom stickers and stock exhaust manifolds!

My advice - don't pay a premium.

Ditto! Plus you spread the posting out about 2 screen widths. Real cute move.

Devildog, you SOOO backed yourself into a corner. Please elaborate. "to ensure the upgrade package is still intact as installed"???? Or "to ensure the upgrade package was installed in the first place".

Surely you don't think the cases of underperforming Venom cars was due to people removing the parts, do you??? If so, thats got to be the funniest thing I've ever read!

Mike,
I think I was pretty clear in my statement. If you don't think there is a possibility of mods being removed that's fine. I think I gave prudent advice versus your unwarranted attack on my posting. Go play with yourself instead of me. I don't find you to be intelligent or funny!!!

You can insult me too, i'm used to it

To verify that the heads and other upgrades pull the power they are supposed to. If they pull near stock.. then someone has changed out the heads.

I think what Devildog was eluding to is buyer ALWAYS beware. I would throughly check out ANY car I was going to buy, regardless of any modifications. If it did have mods, I'd want to go over those as well. Just my take......Kurt

I'm gettin kinda tired of all the unwarranted attacks on DEVILDOG. I'm certainly not gonna let him go out alone guys but I am trying to keep control.

I'd have to agree with Anthony on the price of the Venom 550. DEFINITELY take the car to someone that you trust to have it dyno'd as the numbers can be easily manipulated. You want to make sure that your gettin what you paid for. I couldn't wait to have mine independently dyno'd and I'm happy to say that mine made more power than I anticipated! As DEVILDOG said, please keep us updated on the sale & post some pics when/if you purchase. If it's really a Venom 550 like the seller claims, you won't be disappointed buddy!!

I also think you should ask in the mid $40's and expect to get close to that.
I'm sorry that most of the posts have been off-topic. Good luck with the car.

has been known to throw mufflers, cut cats, etc and give a car a Venom badge. Buyer beware.. If it dyno's correctly (500RW or so), go for it!!!

I really don't think you can get mid 40's. I would say around 50K or 49K if your lucky. If is really the car you want with all the options 50K is not a bad deal.

I personally think it is funny that he would suggest a dyno is in order "to ensure the parts are still on the car". I would absolutely agree with his advice and say the car should be checked out - but not becuase the parts may have been removed, but because there are many cases of HMS cars not performing as they were supposed to and if one is going to pay for an "upgrade", one should ensure the upgrade is there in full before spending more money on it.

Devildog, I was serious about my question, but if you don't want to answer, that's fine. I have never heard of claimed performance parts being removed. I can't see someone pulling the heads and cam from an HMS car (to sell seperately?) and installing stock parts in their place.

As for the original question, the upgrades are never worth what is paid for them. They depreciate alot more than the car does. If the car has lost half it's value (adjusted for inflation, of course), then I would expect the parts have lost 3/4 of their value in the same amount of time. if the package price was $22k, I would say it's worth no more than $7k over a similar stock car.

But in reality they are worth what someone will pay for them... which could be more or less.

Mike,
I already answered you. However, since you have never heard of anyone ever removing upgraded mods and you know everything about everything then I stand corrected , apologize and retract my advice to the originator of this post. RED 97 GTS sorry I gave you bad advice. Mike is the acknowledged expert on all things worldwide so please don't waste your time doing what I recommended. Also, if you need the 550 mod listing I will still provide, however, you may want to get this information from Mike. I'm sure his is probably more accurate. Mike, hopefully, the other members that gave the same advice that I did on this post will also recognize your superiority and correct their statements. Again, please pardon me for my ignorance. Can I wash your Viper when you get one to make it up to you? I wouldn't even consider asking if I could be your friend as I am not worthy. I guess I'll just have to dream about being in your presence and being graced with your knowledge and wisdom.

Note to moderators. You may want to check the spell check function. It is indicating that Mike misspelled several words and that just can't be. Spell check must be broken.

Norm,

It's ok, Devil and I are cool... don't you know what when dogs want to play nice they roll on their back and wag? That's what you're seeing here. Did you type that message or did you have someone else do it for you?

Devil,

I may not know everything about everything, but I *DO* know that my local Dodge dealer was an "authorized" dealer for HMS and did alot of installs, which included 2 cars getting parts put in that weren't put in when the cars returned from TX. Let's call a spade a spade... the reason for the dyno test is to ensure the car is what it's supposed to be. I haven't seen many folks selling cams, cranks and heads from Venoms, so I don't think there is much of a market for taking the parts off. If you wanna believe that the "problems" were due to customers removing the parts.... well, what can I say? Wanna buy a bridge?

I think a seller would have a hard time finding a buyer willing to pay $40k for any 94 mods or not. Look at what newer Vipers are selling for. I may be wrong of course. I just don't think the mods are going to be worth much to very many buyers.

Joe117 nailed it.

If the car checks out mechanically it's worth what your willing to pay for it.

Mike,
I would recommend not trying to pet me. Assuming you're right handed you would likely end up with only you're left hand to keep yourself entertained!
