What is Dodge's warranty stance when something breaks on the track?

My friend has a C6 Z06 vette and GM has been stellar about covering catastrophic failures even if it's on the track. Some manufacturers are pretty tough on covering their cars like Nissan with the GTR. How is Dodge with covering failures that have happened on the track? Do they honor the warranty and do the repair or will they turn you away if something happens on the track like engine blowing or trans failure? All of this is assuming the car is completely stock.

Some of the manuals specify racing the car voids any warranty. Some owners that have had issues on track claim it happened elsewhere.

Dodge has always known what the Viper was built for (the track) and generally if there is no signs of neglect or obvious abuse they are very good about warranty. If you lie and get caught though they will never trust you again.

Some of the Viper owner's manuals? Then the question would be what is Dodge's definition of racing. HPDE events are not racing as far as the organizer's definition.

Comes down to the courts I guess for that one. Oh how well I know from my old insurance company stand point and that involved HPDE. To each their own and good luck.

Some of the newer cars (don't know about Viper) can tell from GPS readouts if you have been on a track. They can also tell how high your RPM's were, the G Forces in braking and cornering, the temperature of the oil/water/rear ends.

Often times it is up the relationship you have with your servicing dealership, and whether or not a factory rep happens to be in the shop at the time.

Kind of a roll of the dice, but it is safest to assume that if you damage your car on the track, the bill might be on you.

Some track repairs have been covered, while others get denied.

That is rare, I have a friend who went to arbitration with GM because his nearly brand new 2006 exploded on the straight away at Thunderhill and he lost because he was "on" a race track. It really is a case by case basis, but if you jump onto the Corvette forum you'll see a huge thread where a C7 let go during a driving school event (not even going at it at normal HPDE speeds) and they gave the elderly owner a world of problems.

If it is on a racing surface and they don't want to cover it, you'll lose, regardless of who the manufacturer is. Just read the sales contract and everything you sign when you buy a new car.....the manufactures are always at the advantage.

Same with most insurance companies now....if you're doing a parade lap at an event to save blind orphaned chipmunks at 10 mph on a race track surface and somehow you crash, chances are you're not going to get covered if you're honest about the incident.

and if they lie to us with build, launch, quality control, well, I guess the record speaks for itself.

I don't think Vipers are 'built for the track' since the ACR had a tape on the shocks that voided the warranty as soon as you removed it to adjust the shocks. To be safe, always have your car towed by the track wrecker off the track premises to be picked up by your dealer like everyone does (GM guys included). Then keep mum about being on the track, and just tell them what you were doing or tell them nothing. You don't have to say you were on the track. The only issue is whether there is 'proof' of abuse, as in repeated over-revving of the car, excessive wear, etc. That will be determined by the Tech inspection at the dealer. Go to a 'friendly' or higher volume dealer to avoid issues.

KW is who voided the warranty not Dodge which I find absurd.

The only reason Dodge would have cared about the adjustment is that they set the car up to be safe and making wrong adjustments to the shock settings can dramatically change the handling of the car and possibly cause an inexperianced driver to get into trouble.

Not sure how a German damper company can void a Dodge warranty but anyway, I wouldn't have my car towed off the track if it can be avoided even if it's an HPDE. Of course, I voided my ACR warranty the first day out ;) not that it mattered, the car has been bulletproof (even better than my GTS) except a master cylinder which I didn't try to claim under warranty but prob should have done except it was changed out at the track by an unauthorized tech.

Did not mean the whole warranty was only answering the shock aspect.
