I have a verbal deal on a 99 red GTS with 10K miles, borla cat back system, extended warranty, new rear tires with 0 miles, short shifter, upgraded CD player, smooth tubes and KN filters.

The car is in "like new condition with NO problems and the paint is scratch free.

If you were to purchase the car...what you would say is a fair price.

The deal is as good as done but wanted just to see if I got a deal or not. In my mind I got a fair deal and the seller is happy too.

Thanks.

I wouldn't sell my 99 GTS for less than $52K, and it has 40K miles. Try less than $50K...you might get lucky.

Or, offer " 'bout tree fiddy" That'll keep the Loch Ness monster away (South Park fans will understand).

I would say 48K, I almost got my hands on the same car, but it was an ACR for 53K... For just a GTS with mods I think 48K to 49K would be the right price. Anything more I would just wait, Viper prices have dropped so much it isn't worth paying top dollar in a few more months when the SRT hits the road the price should get another drop.

Excellent point. These tires should be good for at least 15,000 - 20,000 miles. Ask some serious questions about the amount of tire wear inflicted by the owner.

I questioned the tires too but he said the tires still had some life to them but are in need of new ones. Most of his driving was city and I could see using a set up fairly quick that way. I am sure he did a few burn outs or two. I would think the car could handle it but if he abused it that's a different story. The car will go to a Viper Tech before I hand over the $$. I think 48-49 is right in-line for this time of year. I have seen many 99's go for much more. I have seen as high as mid 50's.

How can the clutch be inspected without removal?

I totally agree.

Not sure. I have always wondered about that.

have your tech remove inspection cover, look for unusual amt clutch material(dust)and just plain old feel, does it release early, late, normal, and is it easy or tight should be easy if oem clutch, these can also be indicative of problems in hydraulics, also remove resevoir cap inspect fluid if maintained should be relatively clear, that goes for brake master cyl. also, also if he still has old rear tires inspect for side wear, indicative of possible track use or abuse,10K does seem relatively early relacement for babied Viper.More important make sure you put it on a rack and inspect undercarraige closely. goodluck and enjoy

thanks vipermed. I hope the local Viper Tech is a good one.

Also, he tells me the fronts are not even 50% worn so maybe he is just a lead foot at the lights.
