WOW, I should have started my own thread, sorry if I stepped on this one. I was thinking about the value of Vipers as a whole when I first started reading this post.I just bought my 02 Viper about 2 months ago and spent about 6 months looking for the right car at a reasonable price. As I found out, Vipers are worth much more than bluebook lists them at. And I wish I knew about the VCA before I selected my car. ( I am very pleased with my car, but there are so many upgrades and particularities to look for.

With the Viper not being built in 2007, and a new style of Viper coming out in 2008, do you think our Vipers will decrease in value with a new style car coming?

Every year that passes will bring a lower price for our cars. They are not rare, so as they age they will go down in price. I do not think the 2008 will effect Gen2 pricing. I think age and mileage effects them more.

i could not disagree more with the words you stated above! the cars are rare. even more rare if it is clean and not hit/repaired/repainted. these cars may drop a tad from where we see them today but after a short time span, you will see bigger dollars for superb examples of these cars, and that is evident in todays market in some regards. i would not sell the 96 for less than 45k period. it may not be a fast sale but unless your totally strapped for the cash why not get what its worth. advertise it right and she will attract the right crowd.

I never said our cars are tanking in value and you should get out while you can. What I did say was they are dropping every year. The average price for a clean Gen2 is less this year than it was 2 years ago. I know for a fact, it will be even less 2 years from now. Now if you want to project 25 years from now that might be a different story. Mass produced cars depreciate in the first 15+ years of their life. I am not trying to be a glass half empty guy but rather a realist. Every year that passes will bring a lower price for our cars.. While that is the case, the prices will drop.

Aaron, i can clearly read what you wrote and it is not what you said in this last statment(PERIOD) THE VIPER IS RARE. YOU SAY THERE NOT! HOW DO YOU FIGURE THAT ONE. SECONDLY, YOU CLEARLY STATED THAT "Every year that passes will bring a lower price for our cars." READ IT ABOVE. YOU DIDNT GIVE A TEMPORARY TIMELINE LIKE YOU RETRACTION DOES. BUT WHAT AMAZES ME THE MOST ABOUT WHAT YOU WRITE ABOUT REFERRING TO THE VIPER AS A MASS PRODUCED CAR LINE.ROTFLOL ARE YOU KIDDING. THEY MAKE MORE VETTES A YEAR THAN THE HISTORY OF THE VIPER PRACTICALLY.

I haven't put it on the market yet. I drove what i thought could replace it , But no luck, it sucked ( 06 c6z ) So i am still looking for a replacement. I think i going to ask 47k to start and go from there, I first need to find something i like. I am in no rush.

Also about the miles on her, I rather have a viper with at least some miles on it compared to a low mileage garage queen.
Most People don't know how to properly store a vehicle. A friend of mine bought a low mileage 95 rt10 with 15k on her, He has had problems from bad valve seals to brake line problems. No way would i want that. When i bought this 96 it had 31k on her. I passed on a 18k miles 96 gts for that same reason.

Robert,

GOOD FOR YOU! If others have soooo many to choose from, then let them choose others. If that is what your car is worth to you, then that is the price.

If I ever hit the powerball, I'm buying all of them.

Everyone I see for sale.

I'll let everybody know what they are worth then. Not really an investment strategy so much as just being an a$$hole, but that kind of thing makes me smile.
