I know you mentioned not wanting to jump into the world of Zaino, but I believe that I heard Zaino's clay bar takes deposits like that off. I just received my order of all the Zaino goodies and am ready to make this baby shine.

Actually, a clay bar probably won't do it. I tried a similar feat on my '96. The clay is great on surface contaminants which you can feel, but if the marks are smearing around you probably need something like Meguire's Body Scrub or the 3M Swirl Mark Remover. The grime is too soft for clay to pick up.

I know both products will do the trick. I believe the Meguires product is less abrasive than the 3M. Whichever you choose, you will need to reapply wax to the areas you worked on. Both of these products will remove any wax you previously had on there.

No need to jump to even mild abbrasives ..... yet! I do my silver/black ACR with Zaino 1 and 2 and it is extremely effective. And I run w/o cats, so exhaust deposits tend to be far worse than on OE exhaust cars.

Zaino is the best. Why mess with anything else?

I'm with you ACR Joe. That does do the trick. Sometimes the deposits do get bad and you need that extra cleaning to get it spotless again. I used Windex. You have to wipe it off VERY quickly but it takes it all off. When I'm done with it, I Zaino it again with #2. Gets my stripes pure white..... at least for a while....

Try WD40. It works great for bugs, they can get pretty grimy. Remove the WD40 in 30-45 seconds. This is a Tip from Mr. Zaino to remove bugs.

I use Goo Gone works great for anything Z6 won't remove. Sold in the auto section at K-MART or other stores.

A solution from Sal Zaino:

For removal of stubborn bug guts, bird droppings, tar, grease, etc....

Try Wd-40. Spray a little on. Let soak for about 40 seconds
and remove with a clean dry 100% cotton towel. Repeat if necessary. Then
rinse with water to remove any oil residue from the Wd-40. Do not do
this procedure in direct sunlight! Do not use any abrasive polish or
compounds.
If you use a product that contains abrasives you will put swirls and fine
scratches in your paint finish.

Thank You,
Sal Zaino

Just tried Goo Gone on the rear bumper grime, no effect. Tried 3M Swirl remover, also no results. Anybody have success. The grime resembles exhaust black spots and tree sap, but it's only on the rear fascia. Thanks.
