How well does the clear coat protect the polished aluminum wheels? I left brake dust on my wheels before I went out of town, not realizing I would be gone so long, and now I'm worried it might corrode the wheels. Am I worrying unecessarily?

Thanks!

nothing to worry about, brake dust from normal driving conditions wont be a problem. Lots of soap and water will take it right off.

If you run the car on a road course and when the brakes get hot, then the hot brake dust can eat thru the clear coat.

I'll be gone for months. Not scheduled to be back until early March. Still no worries?

Don't worry. If normal soap/water doesn't get it off, try Eagle One A-Z wheel cleaner. Cheap ($5), works great, and is clear coat safe. If that doesn't work, spray some WD40 on a rag and have at the problem area. I had some BAKED on dust and the WD40 worked WAY better than anything I tried. Of course, avoid spraying WD40 directly on the rims (unless off car) as it could hit the rotors.
