If I remember correctly there were some delays. So, does anybody(Jon!) remember when they actually started rolling. I'm asking because the '96 GTS I'm picking up tomorrow has a MDH of 121315, and I'm wondering how early in the production run it was.

Welll, I stand corrected. The "Date of Manufacture" was Dec 1996(for some reason I was thinking 1995, so I've actually got one of the last ones off the line that year. So, I guess the real question should be- When did the 97's start rolling off the line?

It's a super clean 2 owner CA car with only 7,400 miles. DC Performance recently did a full inspection and serviced everything that was needed. It's only a 30 minute drive from my house, and I'm picking it up tomorrow. I'm like a kid at Christmas:D

Thats just awesome! Congrats again!!! You keeping those wheels or gonna try and find stock ones?

According to my records, your 96 GTS was built on the day before the last day of 96 GTS production ended. Intersting to know that the VIN before you (#201093) was shipped to Peru!

Thanks for the extra info Chris. With 6 or so made each day, mine is likely in the last 10 built:2tu: That explains why I have the newer forged wheels on it.

To address the original questions - the first '96 GTS Coupes were being assembled in late April/early May, but almost no cars were delivered until after the end of May and the Indy 500 where it was the official pace car. Mine was built late May.

I believe 1997 cars came with cast wheels for about half the year. Your car may have had the wheels replaced?
