The ACR option should allow for a different gear option (3:23, 3:55) or differ gearing on 5th & 6th gear.

Does anybody know if the 75HP performance option from Mopar performance parts void the factory warranty if it is installed by the dealer?

I sure hope not, I plan on having it installed on my 08 when it arrives.:)

I agree with the other post that there is no official 75 hp Mopar "power package" yet. What we have so far are some of the parts featured on the Detroit Mopar Concept Coupe; specifically, you can now get the Mopar/Belanger headers and the Mopar 3'' race exhaust. The Mopar cold air intake is still vaporware but hopefully will be developed soon. According to Lou Belanger, the headers and exhaust should add in the vicinity of 50 hp. My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the cold air intake could add from 7-20 hp. My guess is that the remaining parts from the Mopar Concept Coupe such as revised intake manifold, titanium internal engine parts and Litex pistons account for the remaining few hp in the 75 hp figure quoted by Chrysler. These remaining internal engine parts are not available for sale and I have not heard that Mopar plans to make them available in the near future.

When I received my Mopar/Belanger headers and the exhaust, the parts list did have the notation "for off road use only" but my understanding is that these parts should not void your vehicle warranty.

I'm willing to bet that Dodge is holding out the 75hp upgrade until the ZR1 goes into production. As long as the Viper is not outperformed, it will do just fine. I have seen pics of the ZR1 and it looks like a Z06 toad. Sorry, if I offend any vette owners but that car is butt ugly. The chopped off, humongous back end of it looks like it was designed to make me laugh.

It's bad enough you preach about TC in every one of your post, but please don't ever mention the word "refinement" in a discussion about Vipers.

Your Corvette is refined, our Vipers are not. We like it that way..

For DUMMIES!!!!!!

REFINEMENT:

1. improvement: an addition or alteration that improves something by making it more sophisticated or effective.

SOPHISTICATED(because I know you'll complain about this too)

3. advanced: complex, advanced, and very up-to-date

So shutup and stay in your cave.

You talk real tough on the internet, and yeah your viper may not be AS refined, but this new one is. You are a waist of time, chump.

You think 75hp is going to help the ACR against the ZR1????Ok so the ACR is now 675hp and 3380lbs vs 650hp 3000lb ZR1......I dont see 25hp edge making much of a difference when the Vette has an almost 400lb advantage do you????

I think the ACR needs to lose at least 200lbs along with the 75hp upgrade....Why just aim to keep pace with the Vette when you can terminate it for cheap...

Simple stuff like this can save alot of weight and minimal cost increase to the customer...

Voltphreaks - Home - 4lb Battery

Braille Recaro Racing Seat - Braille LLC - 16 lb seats...They do have lighter carbon fiber racing seats...

That "********" package makes no sense to me...If you are going to do away with luxuries like radio, sound deadening, carpeting and, GASP, the AC etc how the hell do you keep heavy leather seats and 50+ lb battery???And while we are at it how bout a titanium exhaust....Teh ACR should be truly ********....

Exactly.

Option 1: Build it with all you could possibly put into it. Sell them all the first year. Second year, people complain there is no improvement. Everyone who "needed" have one has one. Sales drop off. Used prices stay very high.

Option 2: Build it with as much or a little more than everyone else. Everyone who "needs" to have one, buys. Next year, up the ante even more. Keep it fresh. Lots of annual speculation, interest, and buzz about the marquee. Everyone who "needs" to have the latest and best, buys another one. The used market flourishes. Not cheap, but more reasonable for the average buyer. Enthusiasts happy. Everyone happy, except maybe the guys with so much money they don't care, so I guess they are happy too.

What kills me is how many of you guys constantly brag about building this and that since whatever year, running so many ET's so consistently, knowing so much about Vipers and cars in general. But no one seems to be cognizant of the very transparent and time-honored traditions behind automotive marketing. It's planned, relative obsolescence. It's been here since Henry first started taking heat from Chevy and Dodge. No one puts it all on the table until they have to. "Have to" being defined by sales and market forces, not by the wishes of car enthusiasts or club members. You guys who've been around cars for years should know this intuitively by now.

You can also install those lighter seat brackets and save another 25 lbs

Just so you know, there are hundred's of members reading this, pitying your ignorance and your childish display. Chuck may well be the worst VCA member you might choose to challenge.

Seriously, you may NEVER appear more the fool than you just did!

I don't mind the disagreement, I don't mind a heated discussion. But rhetoric that resembles that of an ignorant 18-year-old is worthless. Adios.

Am I missing something. All I heard about the ACR is that it's going to have a weight reduction 80lbs, upgraded brakes, new color scheme, front spliter, and back wing. How do you justify the price tag? Atleast with the Shelby KR for 27k more you can get extra 225hp making it into 725hp. And Corvette ZR1 that's coming out price around 100k you get extra 150hp. I'm not saying these car's are better than the ACR, but I would of expected some hp gains from the ACR.

yep, you're missing something.

Think about all those absolute crap rip-off Porsches and Ferraris and Lambos that cost much more. I mean ... where do they get off charging that much for such under-powered, poor-performing junk. Pathetic.

Now an 800HP quad-turbo Hyundai for under 50K? Thaaat, would be the ultimate car!!!

Don't give them ideas like these Vipermann, or Hyundai will believe, coming from you, that now they will have to beat the Nissan GT-R on price and power.....

Kid, if it's that important to you my schedule is posted. You're welcome to come to any of the events, pick one. We'll rent a car - vett, viper whatever you like, you take your laps and I'll take mine and loser pays for the rental. It doesn't get any more fair than that.

Now since your full of crap, feel free to leave.

WOW, somebody actually calling Chuck out! (kind of) Thought I would never see the day.

He is all talk. Now he will come back with "oh I have to come to your event? No way dude. That's not fair."

In which case, he shouldn't be shooting his mouth off.

I've actually been invited to race PBOC this year and there will be two races at Sebring. Of course that doesnt make a difference, I'll also be there to get the Nasa TTU record, so I'll have two and maybe even three if I can get the Road Atlanta record from the MTI Z06 (454 CI).

But even so, the original challenge was to meet at a neutral track, but you are all talk, as usual, and wont back up your comments about other people's driving, well here is your chance, but of course you wont take it now will you. Time to put up, now go ahead and start your back pedaling again.

Just like I thought, you wont accept a challenge like a man, you only talk tough behind the keyboard, then when you're forced to show it you turn tail and run. I'll get to Sebring, but it'll be on my schedule, if you want to man up, we can meet elsewhere.

Make sure you keep your electronic nannies turned on. Sebring is a fast track.

LOL

I'll have the Viper Days schedule posted on my site in a week or two. If it is so important to him to show us his "skillz" then he will certainly be able to pick one of those events to meet up.

You said that 2 months ago about the viper days schedule, but it's still not there now is it?

Go ahead and make all the excuses you can now, that is a sign of fear, you and I both know that.

The viperday's schedule just got released yesterday.

I'll take the bet but without the "*****" tattoo deal.

But I say we race in the new ACR at Willow. Someone fly Chuck out here.

When I was a kid they called me "chuck"

I'll battle chuck in a new ACR, but it's gotta be a neutral track. Or one that we both have experience at (which I dont think there is one so it'll have to be neutral).

Neutral track.

There are a few tracks on the Viper Days 2008 schedule I've never been on - Mid Ohio, Putnam Park, Hallett and a few others. You can pick any of them and it won't bother me if you have a thousand laps on them, I'll make certain to make the event.

Now what car do you wanna rent? Corvette? Porsche? Ferrari? Better not make it a Viper 'cause that's the only one I have experience with, and that wouldn't be fair...for you.
