It is often tough to find the right info via search, perhaps a means of demonstrating sincerity in the search process is for the OP to include a link to the best "search info" he/she has come up with and then ask for better/more info.

90% of the time you can tell by the post whether the OP has even tried to educate him/herself......and, unfortunately, a large majority of OPs haven't even tried.

No, I'm thinking Camfab's analogy in the post before mine demonstrates why it is easier to just ask instead of spending "an hour" searching the archives.

fwiw, my experience is that the search function has not provided a lot of useful info unless it was a very basic search.
im not sure why ppl get upset abt stuff like this.
they take the time to ***** at someone but not the time to answer the question. if you have nothing to say, dont open the thread.

Well, to be fair now, if people don't ***** they don't get to see their post count reach stratospheric levels.

It's OK to remind someone to search. All the OP has to do is say I DID search, no need to attack the poster who suggested search. I'm on a lot of other boards where I look for information regarding my other cars, boats, etc.

I ALWAYS preface a question that I ask with the comment "I searched but would like some more current information." Or "I searched but did not find what I was looking for." By doing that I have never been dumped on, and I really do search before asking because I usually want the answer RIGHT NOW, not 2 days later when someone comes back to the board and answers.

All the boards are the same regarding this search issue, be aware and communicate and you won't be dumped on. And as I said 2 days ago stick to the a subject matter and put the comments about the search issue behind us.
