I Am Out of the Closet - I AM A HATER

I was a god fearing, non-violent pacifist that ate nothing but apple pie. My life recently changed, I am now a hater. I have to thank a few of the “Enthusiasts”, especially the ones that have never owned a viper, their knowledge is amazing, they know so much, Yes, they have taught me to hate and I am deeply indebted.

Here is what I was taught about the Gen V- thank you again, knowledgeable enthusiasts:

1. The V was beat by a ZR1, the V was not a production car and the ZR1 was possibly a ringer, but, it still lost - just makes you hate the V.

2. The V beat the ZR1 to 60 mph, that is bad, it accelerates too hard.

3. The V has bad seats, the seats were changed, but, they are still probably bad, I hate those seats

4. The V has bad tires and there are probably no other tires in the whole world that will fit - that is very bad.

5. The V has an improved interior, that is bad, someone will be looking at the interior while driving and get into an accident - I hate nice interiors.

6. The V has LED lights, very bad, I don’t know why, but, if an enthusiasts says it is so, it has to be correct.

7. The V is 150 lbs (with track pack) lighter than the IV, that is really bad, I hate light cars.

8. The V has a lower center of gravity, when you defy Newton you know what happens.

9. The V uses a lot of carbon fiber, what is going to happen to the steel mill workers. The unions will also all hate the V.

10. The V has 40 more hp then the IV, that is not fair, it just causes more hate.

11. The transmission ratio is vastly improved, that means too much shifting - very bad.

12. The V higher numerical differential ratio, that means it will wear out faster, again bad design.

13. The V has a 50% greater torsional rigidity than the IV, that will cause a lot of back injuries. I hate going to the doctor. It might not be bad, the affordable care act is giving me free health insurance.

14. The electronics package has earned several awards, someone must have been paid off.

15. The V engine runs cooler than the IV, that means the driver will have to dress warmer in cool weather, I might be wrong on that one, the “enthusiast’s” did not explain that clearly.

16. The V has a world class paint/finish, that adds weight, what is wrong with SRT.

17. The V has the stripes painted under the body color, what was wrong with them, you can no longer feel the stripes.

18. The V is a hard top, how can you get sun and wind in your face - terrible decision.

19. The V has an option for a 18 speaker sound system, for sure, that will ruin some hearing. The AMA is sure going t like that.

20. The V has customizable dashboards, that sure sounds like a lot of trouble.

22. There is switched power to the rear view mirror for a radar detector, someone will go to jail in Virginia,

23. The SRT version is $10,000 more than the 2010 IV, that is way too much - who can afford that.

24. Most of those V’s cost more than $150,000, no one buys the $98,000 version.

25. The V has stability control - why couldn’t they get an exemption from the government.

26, The V has more head room than the IV, that could cause head injuries - way too much open space.

27. The V has a premium leather option, just give me more hp, no one wants leather, I hate leather. I especially hate leather on the steering wheel, why do I hate it, I was taught to hate all that is V by this forum.

28. The V has a lighter flywheel, that was probably for cost savings.

29. The V has lighter valves, probably another cost savings move, that is the way to go SRT, cheapen that car up.

30. Why do the head lights look like a snake - whose idea was that, definitely a negative.

31. The tunnel has been lowered, everyone prefers the higher awkward tunnel, I hate good ergonomics.

32. The V has internet connectivity, who cares, these are race cars - I hate the internet.

33. The V has way too many colors and options, these are race cars, I hate options.

34. The V has a true cold air intake, the snow will get into the engine and cause rust.

35. The V has cooling ducts for the brakes in both the front and rear, that means the brakes will get really dirty.

36. The V has solenoid operated doors, just something else to break - I hate technology.

37. The V has cup holders and storage, that will cause spills and possible electrical shorts.

38. The V has a large touch screen with navigation and dashboard templates, what the hell is that for, just more for me to hate.

39. All this does not matter, the car will not be our till the end of the 2013.

Are you really that insecure about your buying decision that you need constant reassurement you made the right choice?

Yawn...........I love how holding SRT to the standard of their own Gen V hype is considered hating. If it wasn't for the deserved negative press SRT would have released the Viper as is. Thanks to what you call "hating" the production is delayed while they do some last minute improvements before you get your hands on the car.

You really should thanks us. Without us you wouldn't have world class leather interior materials, more amenities and tech, a model for the ******** etc. Whether or not us "haters", "enthusiasts" like all the Gen V is about is moot. Our "hating" has had a positive effect in the Vipers evolution over the years. SRT is obviously not happy with their initial effort/results hence the delay. I guess they are haters too.

My thoughts exactly. If you like it, buy it. Its not for everyone.

Just sounds like a rant to me about people complaining about the new Viper. Doesn't sound insecure about his purchase at all. There are others on here that are/were and cancelled their orders because they were insecure. Can't wait to see your GEN V Jack!!!

I hate you said it has rear brake cooling ducts, it doesn't. It has cooling ducts for the rear differential, which I hate. LoL

Man do we need more to talk about. I wonder if the C7 forums are rambling threads also while waiting or an actual car.

Yes it is. Just like the twenty that preceeded it.
The Gen V forum has become a 3-5 person congratulatory circle ****.
Never seen guys so defensive about buying a stupid car, they need to post um-teen times a day defending their decision.
Buy it, enjoy it. it will be old news a year from now when the newer ones arrive.
That's life.

They should just close down the whole SRT division. Because they are obviously upsetting alot of enthusiasts. -I never really noticed, until you pointed that out. SRT needs to make a car that people will like, or continue to suffer the onslaught of critiques by the enthusiasts. ....that's why they don't become owners, because the car absolutely *****. Instead of trying to make cars that are for crazy people, SRT needs to conform to what people really want, like Mustangs and Corvettes, or Porsche and Ferrarri, or Toyota and Nissan. Those are good cars that people like. The Gen V, and all Vipers for that matter, are very bad poorly designed cars that no one should buy.

It goes well with the people constantly coming in here saying how they made such a better choice with their other vehicle.

To each their own.

Not much to talk about until they arrive. People are taking the thread a bit too seriously.

And I hope to be an enthusiast for only a few more months!!:D

They should make a membership fee to be on the forum; you'd avoid all of the jealous trolls.

How can anyone bad talk a car they've never driven? Hell, I've never even seen one:crazy2:

There is no insecurity here, you obviously do not know me. Can't you see how ridiculous all the negative remarks are, there isn't a production car on the street yet. Objectively or legally speaking you cannot condemn a product until it is in the hands of the jury or the public. I outlined an objective view of the improvements on the Gen V, admitted with a little sarcasm. It is amazing for such a poor car, they are basically sold out. This is not directed at any single individua, I was merely pointing out the insanity of what has gone on since the Gen V was announced. I will be the loudest protester if I find it is a poor product.

That is my last comment on this thread, it is not polite to force the haters into being objective twice in one day, plus. I have to go find my gun and bible..

I love how 'enthusiast' has become a term of derision.

You realize that mane 'enthusiasts' are long term Viper owners, right?

Sorry, The slander is directed towards the non-Viper owning 'enthusiasts'. The ones that stand outside the fence and throw rocks at us crazy people, for liking what the Viper is, and isn't.

I do find it funny that a vehicle that evokes passion from its owners, which has such a strong following of people owning the gen I - gen iv, is so looked down upon of those anxiously awaiting their gen v's.

Suddenly, being passionate is bad - because?

good point. its not only the jealous non owning trolls that bad mouth the car that they've never driven and have never seen its also viper owners themselves. there's entire threads about "negativity" in this regard.

Well, some of the guys that are in line for Gen 5 has made it perfectly clear that they have zero interest in the older generation cars......the ones who really stood out and blew the competition away.

So as the Viper is getting softer around the edges and attracts a customer that wasn't interested before, I can see a gap developing. Old school - Raw and unfriendly, New school - Comfortable and forgiving.

These different personalities may not play well with each other.

commando i'll bet those types u mention are out there but personally i've loved the viper for the 2 decades its been out in production. my favorite styling is the gen II and i was actually considering picking up a nice final edition version recently. What I love about the V is that it has the II styling on steroids! and yes i appreciate modern features and some refinement in a car.

as for vca, i did try to join and pay the fee but the forms asked for a VIN and all i have is a VON at this point. i look forward to joining though:)

I think you hit the nail on the head here. There will be some overlap from previous owners that are purchasing the new one, but for the most part there will inevitably be two very distinct types of enthusiasts when it's done.
