You wouldn't hear the lumpy sound over your LOUD exhaust anyways! I have heard that it will not work but I am by no means an authority on the subject. :D

I do not believe the Gen II cam will work in a Gen I. I have the same grind as a 96 in my Gen I, but it was made specifically for a Gen I. Valaya (my local tuner of choice) got it from Dan Cragin.

The 908 cam from the 97 works great in a 94 as an upgrade. You will need to use a Gen I timing chain set as the Gen II timing chain set is not compatible in a Gen I, unless you are utilizing AEM.

I think the 708 will work fine in the Gen 1 Mitch. I thought about making that change with my old Roe car, but then I decided the 708 was too small. Ended up with a custom grind, I think just over .600 and 232/236 duration, 114 centerline I believe.

I miss the lumpiness of my old car, the GTS idles like my Lexus!!

I think it's relatively the same cam as a 708, your newer engine has different lifters in it. (different bleed down rate for emissions)
I think if you put in the "older" lifters, it'll be lopier again. :dunno:

there are much better cams than the 708 for our cars. talk to greg good about it. if you are gonna go thru the trouble of replacing a cam, might as well make it a good one.

while doing a cam, might as well do the heads as well and really take advantage of the cam and get a lot more HP. again talk to greg good on this.

The overlap in the 96-99 was 6 degrees more than the creampuff cam also. That, along with the lifters, killed our lopey, musclecar idle:mad:.

so is it true by changing out the stock lifters and putting some t&d lifters in you would get the lopey sound/idle back liek the 96 to 99 years??

708 cam will work fit 1992-2002 Vipers. Gen 1 and 2000-2002 models will need a new computer calibration.
