Now that we are all talking about gears...
Does anyone sell a speedo/odometer recalibration box?? or do we need to do it only by re-programming the computer??
A change of gears in the SRT does not require a recalibration.

Sounds like the Gen IIIs use the ABS wheel speed sensors to trigger the speedo. How does the speedo compensate for the change?
well actually youre right and youre wrong with that statement. the new chevy motor actually puts out more HP over the v-10, but yes the v-10 has more TQ, but at the same time it weighs a little more.
The Z06 puts down more HP to the wheels, on avearge, than the Viper. My Z06 put down 455 rwhp, and my Viper, on the same dyno, did 437 rwhp.
On average and in general, Z06's put down roughly 450 rwhp.
Viper put down 435-440. The Z06 has a stronger motor.
And, if you want to talk strongest Viper engine dyno to date (which I am sure some of you will), then we can do the same with the Z06, which is much higher than the Vipers.

Fadi, great story, but im pretty sure we were talking about the motor, not the driveline... cuz if we talked about the driveline, maybe yours takes up less loss, because its not as beefy as ours, and its why you guys have a problem with busted drivelines.. but sure, glad you have less parasitic loss. I for one will go with the new standard established by the automotive world, which tested both these engines on the same type of equipment and said the vipers made more power. Enjoy your z06, some were not cut out to be viper owners.
Jon
Fadi,
looks as though you have not done your research....

Yes, you will need a recalibration box. Roe and JOn B have them for around $120, and they work for any gear ratio as you can just set the dip switches inside for whatever gear ratio you have.
No unfortunately I am not stock and would blow you away both times.
Btw do the measurement on a Mustang dyno with a slow or near steady state sweep and you will get a different answer then a dynojet. The Viper has much more driveline and wheel weight which absorbs power during a fast dyno test.
And the car you had was not stock as produced. You lamented here many times about how the previous owner failed the engine and it was replaced. Testing a buyback car and stating it represents all others is a crock. I would presume that a buyback had the crap beat out of it before you got it. That must have been your assumption as well as you fought diligently to get out of it. I can also go back to your old posts and show you were pro vette through your whole ownership period. Some things can not be disguised.
Fadi I want to see your cam and bolt ons that produce anywhere near my 690 RWHP. And when if you do you better get a whole new drivetrain or I will pass a broken Chevy.

Ahh, this is where there is a misunderstanding. I don't need anywehre near 690 rwhp to be close to your Viper. It is amazing how much less rwhp I can have and still run right with or surpass a Viper.
But I don't care about all that modding garabge. I care about one thing only, that is, a stock C6 Z06 is quikcer/faster than a stock SRT-10 EVERYTIME. Hell, a lightly modded Viper would still lose to a stock Z06 and man, does this eat you up inside, Ron.
Don't stress it man, the new Diamonback Viper is coming out. Oh wait, so isn't the Stingray..Oops, GM did it again..

OK, I have the chime in.
Are Chevy guys are really going to keep bragging that their new 2006, top of the line Z06 coupe, can beat a standard 2003 (convertible) Viper.
I can live with that, but VOI is only days away with Dodges reply.
