Anyone near Grand Prairie, TX who could check out a hood for me?

I'm looking for a black Gen 4 hood and this one just popped up on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180918399707?item=180918399707 It's hard to tell from the pictures what kind of shape it's in. If anyone local could swing by and check it out I'd make it worth your time! Thanks, Bryan

    New MGW Shifter

+1 IMO, the improvement in shifting comes 90% from the shift mechanism and 10% from the length of the shaft. With the stock shifter, missed shifts were maybe not common, but they happened. Since I installed the new shifter, I've yet to miss the gear I was going for. It's like you can sort...

    Newbie questions???

I'm not certain, but I thought I read somewhere that the TPMS sensors trip at something like 21 psi. As someone already suggested, I'd suggest you get a good tire pressure gauge and check them when they're cold -- you might be pretty low... Bryan

    DIY differntial gear change... reasonable?

Thank you, all, for jumping in with some great advice. The consensus seems to be that it's too tricky and expensive (tool-wise) for a good DIY project and too critical a component to be done wrong. My next question is then: What's a fair price for a reputable shop to do the swap? Thanks...

    DIY differntial gear change... reasonable?

As many have done, I'm ready to change the gears in my '05 vert from stock to 3.55:1. I'm not entirely opposed to paying someone to do this, but I really enjoy working on my own car and am trying to assess the difficulty of this job as a DIY. I was hoping the factory service manual might...

Replacing spark plugs tomorrow, anything I need to know?

Make sure you have the right socket, I think it's 5/8", and you definitely need the one intended for plugs with the rubber insert that holds the plug while you're pulling it out or inserting the new one. Or, another trick is to take a ~1' piece of rubber hose, with the inside diameter matching...

    Wheel alignment.....

My local DC dealer did mine for $200, but he also stated there is the "super deluxe" (my term, not his) version in which they have to remove body panels in order to index exact points on the frame, or something like that. $1300. Wow... Bryan

Things that cause you to CRASH your Viper!

Mine is a Gen3. I did see that you mentioned the B&M; my point was that the shorter shift knob itself wouldn't seem to fix anything. If anything, the longer the shift knob, the more you should be able to feel/see the lateral difference between 1st, 3rd, and 5th, for example. Purely my...

Things that cause you to CRASH your Viper!

I believe that when a "better shifter" is discussed, it's not the knob itself but the shifter mechanism that is between the knob and the transmission. I replaced the stock unit with the MGW shifter and it's a huge improvement. I now feel much more comfortable that I'm getting the gear that I...

Any RB1 (radio) experts out there?

Got it, thanks. My RB1 radio itself works great, so I agree that it must have been your particular unit. Now I still haven't resolved another occasional but annoying problem, which is where the radio plays but the screen is dark and no buttons respond -- from internet searches, this seems...

Any RB1 (radio) experts out there?

Just to close this out in case anyone stumbles into this thread in the future... I ended up buying a new nav disc from Alpine and it's working fine, so I suspect the problem was the used disc I got from ebay -- even though it was obviously a factory disc, NOT a copy, it still had issues...

Where is drain plug location for coolant?

I just did this in my '05. According to the factory service manual you just need to drain the radiator (look at the bottom of it on the driver's side -- you'll see a black valve that opens by hand) and there are engine block drains, one on each side. They are pretty obvious, though getting to...
