If it is a Gen 4 setup, good luck - they are notorious for being difficult/impossible to remove. You need something that can grab on to the groove that holds the outer snap ring...there is a similar one internal to the diff that is keeping it in place. You'll need a slide hammer to shock it...
This - you likely had a misfire, and the PCM went into limp mode. It should go out of limp mode if you shut the car off and restart it, but the check engine light will likely remain. I've had this happen to my '08 on a WOT shift when I briefly tagged the rev limiter.
D3 Performance did it with a Gen 5 tuned with HPTuners, but I don't think they post around here. There is a fair amount of info over on other websites about it. I don't think anyone with a Gen 4 has stepped up to the plate to be a test mule, but the tuning would be the same.
HPTuners could...
That's not the case anymore...you can do it with HPTuners, but not many people out there know how to do it properly. A full standalone is definitely not required.
The testing I'm after is actual, honest-to-god used oil analyses from a Viper V-10, not lab/bench tests. The latter means nothing. As with anything in this world, a high price tag doesn't always equate to the best value.
As far as the cost, I actually do care. 11 quarts of Amsoil 0w40...
Some of the Mobil 1 oils are overrated, but the 0w40 European formula isn't one of them. Virgin oil analyses (at least the ones I've seen) suggest it is a very good oil.
I've never understood the cult mentality surrounding Amsoil, but you are free to spend your money how you choose.
The Gen 3 Vipers use a hydraulically powered radiator fan, which if I'm not mistaken is tied into the power steering system. They are a known point of failure - usually the lines go. As long as the lines don't leak, it is supposedly a pretty good system. I'm guessing that's why you started...
Re: So what kind of issues can I expect after having the battery disconnected for day
When I did mine, I just did both windows at the same time. Not sure it would matter either way.
Re: So what kind of issues can I expect after having the battery disconnected for day
Key in the on position (car not started), roll the windows all the way down and hold for 5 seconds, release, then roll it up and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 3 times. Done.
Re: So what kind of issues can I expect after having the battery disconnected for day
You should only need to do the window relearn procedure and you'll get a diagnostic trouble code for having the battery disconnected that should go away after a cycle or two.
Personally, I wouldn't use it even if they paid me. It looks nice, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about it.
The factory air box seals to the hood, the K&N does not. Others that have tried the K&N have noted increased IATs when compared to the factory configuration at...
That is an excellent summary, and is exactly what I found when I ventured down this road a couple years ago. I've been happy with the final product - new single DIN head unit (specifically so I could play my iPod), Dynaudio components with passive crossovers (didn't want to deal with active)...
The Gen 4 skip shift disable plugs (just resistors) only work for the 2008 cars. In 2009 (and 2010), they implemented a check to make sure the skip shift solenoid was functioning properly, hence why you can't simply install a resistor (it'll set a code if you do).
There are two options for...
It doesn't really matter if you want bass you can feel or not - in this case, it is just flat out hard to hear. I modified the stock enclosure to accept a 6.5" CDT audio M6+ subwoofer, sealed off the port, etc. It is being fed by a dedicated channel on my 5-channel amp - it sounds great with...
My advice: don't waste your time trying to modify or otherwise make the center subwoofer sound good. I've tried, and failed. It can sound good with the engine off, but as soon as you turn the car on, the bass from the engine will drown out anything that poor little speaker can produce.
If you...
